Bedia being above Gelhardt on that list is bollocks. It's because he was awarded that weird goal where Mehlem's goalbound shot touched his hand on the way in (he actually slowed it down if anything), and also that Gelhardt's corner at Sunderland which was definitely deliberate went down as an OG for some reason.

Don't know why but this stuff bothers me. I'm still annoyed that Eaves got awarded that goal at Boro years ago when Bowen arrowed it into the bottom corner from 25 yards, but replays showed that Eaves' slipstream sort of disturbed it slightly on the way without even affecting its flight.

It’s most likely a minimum of 48, if you look at points per game over the season so far. If you believe Derby or Cardiff will pick up points like a top 2 team, it could possibly be 53.

I was looking at it and trying to frame it in a similar way, with Cardiff having 6 games left I can't see them winning more than 3-4 of those and that's at a stretch and not having looked at their fixture, so 50 seems just about right to me.

According to some on here it would never get as high as 50 points, so you might get hounded for even suggesting such a thing. I think you’re right though.

They play both Stoke and Cardiff at home so win both of those and they have a chance.

Wasn’t sure where to put this, but here goes.

City have had only 13 league fixtures kicking off at 3pm on Saturday this season, by the end of the season it will be 14 - not even a third.

That said, our record in these 13 matches is not great - only two wins, seven draws and four defeats.

Some good players on that list that haven't played nearly enough due to injury etc. It's a shame really.

Makes the 'not playing Puerta' situation look even weirder when Slater, who's had a largely poor season has played in 13 more games than him so far.

Yeah just took a look at their fixtures - WBA, Norwich and Sheff Utd look tough but other three look winnable. So call it 4 wins at a stretch if they pick up an unexpected one, and maybe call it 4 wins + a draw as a worst case scenario for us. Means they hit 54 points. Would mean 10 more points for us to match them BUT it also means Stoke and Derby would have to do similar, and given that one of Stoke's remaining games is against Cardiff and they can't both win, if we're assuming Cardiff beat Stoke then Stoke only have 5 games to do similar, in which they play Luton and Derby, as well as Leeds and Sheff U. So if we then assume Stoke beat Luton, Derby and Sheff Weds then Derby can't beat them.. means Derby would have to beat Luton, Portsmouth and us. Now of course if Stoke and Derby both beat Luton that basically means Luton can't catch us, and if it comes down to us and Derby we play each other, meaning it could all essentially come down to that game.

My post is probably a bit hard to track but I guess I'm just trying to say if everyone wants to look at the worst case scenario and the sides below us keep winning, by nature they can't actually because they play each other, and if Cardiff AND Stoke jump above us, the very likely outcome is Derby are the ones stuffed not us. And in even a moderate scenario where a couple of those games end up in draws, even better for us. If we pick up even just 2 wins from Watford, Swansea, Preston, Derby and Portsmouth I think we're safe, particularly if one is against Derby.

Don't know. Just remember there've been too many times people have been questioning why he hasn't featured.

As of today, before 19:45 GMT, 59 points guarantees safety, as Derby and those currently below Derby wouldn't be able to get more points than that, unless Cardiff have a goal difference swing of +13 better than our final goal difference in the season's final table.
Obviously, the magic number will change many times from here on in.

I thought it was more he’d barely played for a year so was getting up to speed (much like a few of our signings in summer)

The shot near the end from Hughes was pretty close and took a decent save from the keeper to keep it out. We were sat bang in line with it and all I can say is he gave it a mighty wollop, got some shot on him that lad…

Oxford switched from Tuesday to Wednesday, for midweek home matches, after going five years without a Tuesday home win. I hope another winless midweek run starts tomorrow. :emoticon-0138-think
