Yeah a big part of me thinks there’s been a big pre-game sell off. Would be the biggest scandal in years though. On balance I reckon they’re probably not clever enough for anything so Machiavellian. Someone online said earlier that this isn’t a conspiracy, it’s just what happens when you give an arrogant old narcissist (with a history of public gripes about tariffs) absolute unchecked power. He’s really not clever, he’s just got nobody who can stop him. The only thing that brings it to a halt is when the public ultimately turns.

I think you are crediting him with more intelligence than he has. This, in my opinion, is the work of a man who is still living his life as a business man where everything is a deal and a negotiation. His every utterance is about a deal on this or a deal on that. He is a danger to everyone, not least Americans.

I think we are starting to see one or two smart moves which will shake his belief in his own power base. Jaguar saying we will pause exports is clever and subtle. If major countries started to agree low level tariffs, beneath the 10% that would be another. They dont have to be equal in that world. He is starting to see other countries have some decent poker hands too. Whether it causes him to soften his stance we will see. Musk is feeling the heat from tariffs, maybe he is the unlikely mediator? My guess is Trump backs down and calls a pause (i know the earlier stort was misinterpretation). He is already gearing up to announcing it imo by saying loads of countries want to negotiate. Lets see, but he is completely out of his depth and totally unchecked.

Oh absolutely not.. at the end of the day, money makes the world go round. Much more powerful people than Trump involved in that who would be very pissed off losing hundreds of billions of dollars in matters of days. It’s been well known for decades that the likes of Blackrock, Roths etc are very influential in the White House. Something just seems off to me.

I’ve been watching Tesla shares closely and saw a lot of directors bailing out before the **** hit the fan
As soon as they start buying big again - it is time to buy.

I read your comment earlier mate. Why does it take a couple of days for transactions to go through? I thought it was instant.

I suspect Tesla is never going up again. Not to where it was anyway. All ROW teslas are made in China anyway (which is why they aren’t terribly made like the US ones) and their main issue is a lot more Elon shaped. They’ve got a long way to go before their price gets down to where it probably should be (as a bog standard car manufacturer) so it remains one to avoid unless your timing - and attention span - is impeccable:emoticon-0102-bigsm

    It's happened today, 6.30pm...

Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately. At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the days of ripping off the U.S.A., and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable.

Conversely, and based on the fact that more than 75 Countries have called Representatives of the United States, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the USTR, to negotiate a solution to the subjects being discussed relative to Trade, Trade Barriers, Tariffs, Currency Manipulation, and Non Monetary Tariffs, and that these Countries have not, at my strong suggestion, retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States, I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

They are claiming the OMT meant this along, a 10% Tariff across the board is a good result

Absolutely shat it hasn’t he? Shame the ‘brexit dividend’ has evaporated. Don’t think many will rush back to dealing with the US though. Time for us all to turn away.

Like Gordon, I'm a financial adviser in the International scene. Trump is a tit. Markets are in turmoil but will recover as they always do. Master plan is to raise revenue for the US through tariffs. Raise $2 trillion and then give Americans tax breaks just before next election. He gets re-elected and runs riot.

Companies and markets will adapt. Great time to buy 3 or 4 ETFs in S&P500, FTSE 100; Nikkei 225 and Eurostoxx 600 as well as Nasdaq.

    Be brave - good luck

Jess Phillips reaction to the brilliant speech by Katie Lam about Pakistani Rape Gangs was telling, now Labour have dodged out of the local enquiries.
The look of disdain on Phillips face when presented with facts by Jess Phillips was a slap in the face to all the victims of these gangs.
