I go back to '76 so no doubt I will have forget about a few so my eleven is open to alteration! 1 Neville Southall 2 Paolo Maldini 3 Stuart Pearce 4 Graeme Souness 5 Franco Baresi 6 Tony Adams 7 Christiano Ronaldo 8 Ruud Gullit 9 Henrick Larsson 10 Dennis Bergkamp 11 Marc Overmars
Best defender- Bobby Moore. Best player Maradona. Best fullback- Danny McGrain. Best goalie- Shilton. I'd love to have seen Zidane, IMO the best midfielder ever.
I agree with Pearce. The seasoned winger I saw him marking looked totally out of his depth and terrified
I was going to say Kenny Sansom but he was a more traditional left back, I preferred Pearce as he could have probably made it as a winger.
Probably the shock of seeing you! Saw Sansom many times in Bromley over the past 20 years, even bumped into him in hospital whilst waiting for my bypass, he was a patient there as well.
He was pleasant at first but got very pissed very quickly and turned into a pain ! , he ended up sleeping rough around Bromley didn’t he? Had a massive alcohol problem
David Ginola was one of the best players I’ve seen live , think Derek Hales , Scotty Parker , Darren Bent , Claus Jensen are among some of the best Charltons players I’ve seen - Danny Mills wasn’t bad either !
In no particular order, I have seen Sansom...... In the South spoons before the 2019 play-off final, on the wine with his chums around 9am Outside Tesco Express around 5.30 waiting for it to open, later that day he was in the Newshopper for being drunk that day In Barclays Bromley, drunk again having a chat with people queuing for the counter clerks Walking up Bromley South late 2020 after he came out of hospital, he was with a lady who was basically talking for him, he was living in assisted housing.
I've hardly ever been to games except those involving Charlton - or the team from The Valley pub back in the day. One player I remember always had me thinking "he's bleeding good" every time I watched him was Yann Kermorgant. Jose Semedo too
