This day in 1985 we drew 1-1 at home with Crystal Palace in front of 6,131 supporters. Curbs scored a late equaliser for a share of the honours.

The FA Vase replaced the FA Amateur Cup in 1974, after it became clear that many of the bigger 'amateur' teams were in fact semi-professional.
So the amateur / professional distinction was thrown out and the FA Vase created, for Clubs in the 5th & 6th tiers.

Charlton played twice in the FA Amateur Cup, around 1920 I think.
Just before we turned pro and joined the 3rd Division (South).

Terrific win for the Gunners in the Champion's League tonight.

Must admit I always keep half an eye on their progress.
I know 1913 was a long time ago. But I still think of Arsenal as a local team, whose departure from Woolwich to North London was one link in the chain of circumstances that led to the rise of Charlton Athletic.

In a subsequent letter to clubs, the CBF said the act of standing on the ball was a "provocation to a rival and disrespects the game".

As you said Guvnor, daft. The diving and cheating in whatever many ways there are, are more provoking and disrespectful. The thought process of the Brasilians is worrying, believe me I experience it every day.

The two goals from Rice last night for Arsenal will be the best he'll EVER score and could well be the goals of the season.

I was typing a message to my Swedish mate who was at the game, when I pressed the send button I almost dropped the phone seeing he scored a second, and probably a better goal as well.
These two free kicks will be shown for years to come.

Ange has totally lost the plot.

    Talk about Mr Grumpy.
More like Mr completely pissed off :emoticon-0132-envy:
He says he'll get sacked even if Spurs win the European competition they're still in. Everyone has it in for him etc. :emoticon-0113-sleep
Who would have it in for such a likeable guy? <doh>

As in exposing their emotional immaturity.
Can brag all day when they're doing OK, but don't know how to deal with adversity.

    I give you that.

I went out to Australia for both the 98 and 2002 ashes series. We needed to take about 8 wickets on the last day in Sydney to win the test, we could not lose it, but fortunately we rolled them over to win the test, although from memory we were 4-0 down in the series! However, on the last day 80% of the crowd were English, the aussies were not interested in seeing if they could bat out the day for a draw.

Early December in the series we had a game in Canberra, a friendly one day game, badly affected by rain but still got a game played. Anyway, Paul Collingwood was on the boundary, you had coloured clothing and he was wearing the number 50. A wag in the crowd shouted out that was the only way he was going to see a 50 that day<laugh><laugh><laugh>. They are good fun tbf. But as you allude to, do not handle losing.
