Does Riza know? Not a good first half. Only 4 shots, one on target. Colwill booked. Need to up their game second half. Robertson and Turnbull to come on to even things up in midfield? Robinson for one of the 3 speed kings to put more pressure on their defence. Add to all that everyone around us winning or drawing except Stoke. Swans have had zero shots Direby.
Penalties? We can't buy one. Jay Stansfield has scored his 10th for Birmingham today. I think he might have missed one along the way as well. What are we doing wrong?
Meitie on for Ashford. Effectively 3 centre forwards playing now but no wingers. Warnock ball it is then.
Shockingly poor game of football. City totally bereft of a game plan. Riza tinkered again with some ill judged substitutions. Turnbull or Robertson surely should have been on before Tanner. That game was there to be won. A wasted opportunity. Preston won’t be as poor as QPR. Heck knows what team Riza will put out.
A shockingly poor game of football at Hillsborough today, and it looked like a 0-0 bore draw until one moment of top quality. The point you got today could turn out to still be very valuable come May. It looks like it'll go down to the wire, and is still all to play for several teams. Strap in and best of luck. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Due to a lack of any constructive midfield with Colwill failing to produce yet again it appears there was little option but to lump the ball forward to the 3 upfront. You may recall, or not, that we used to refer those tactics as Warnock ball. The difference is that we had players then who could play that way. Until Warnock spunked £6 million on Madine that is.
I’ve stuck up for Colwill this season but today he was terrible. Riza again got the team selection wrong. Then compounded his error with his timing & choices of subs. The man is a disaster.
The position we find ourselves in right now is not Colwill's fault, but it's been evident for some time that he's not lived up to the early hype. Apart from the odd spectacular shot and training ground shuffle, he's contributed very little to our overall game. You can say it's our management and game plan that's actually flawed and you wouldn't be too far wrong there, but relying on a moment of magic to climb the table just isn't going to happen - this needs serious, even ugly graft all over the pitch - Rinomohta exemplified that. Riza had both Robertson and Turnbull sat on the bench and neither were used. Either would have been a massive improvement in place of the ambling Colwill. He was also on a yellow after the first half hour of the game - even more justification to hook him off for either of those two on the hour at the latest. Management and player failure.
Exactly. The players to a man needed to go that extra yard and bust a gut yesterday but save Rinomota they were largely apathetic. They need to replicate the spirit of 1977 when to a man the team put in that extra effort to stave off the drop. City need the likes of Phil Dwyer, Paul Went, John Buchanan etc for the run in.
On a positive note, I thought Daland played a very controlled game at LCB alongside Fish. Not sure about Bagan there - seems a bit lightweight on times. Haven't seen why the switch was made at half time - did Bagan take a knock or was it simply Riza's choice? Moving on to the next one, I'd stick with a Fish/Daland CB pairing at Deepdale with Rinomohta and O'Dowda keeping their places either side - Bagan on the bench.
And have at least one more midfielder with some dog and fight. Colwill out. Looks like either Robertson or Turnbull in although I'm not sure either is 100% fit. There is also Chambers although we don't know what happened with him yesterday. I've not read WoL this morning. Also the 3 wingers ploy is not sustainable so one of them out with someone else taking over as a no. 10 Robinson maybe? Who knows with Riza? More changes but clearly needed.
Bluey - if neither Robertson nor Turnbull weren't fit enough to come on for half an hour at least, they shouldn't have been on the bench. It was all down to Riza and his broken management.
Is it time for his chance? https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/roko-simic-im-ready-whenever-31354844
Anyone heard what happened to Chambers on Saturday? Was it injury, illness, personal or disciplinary?
