I posted on here because this is the RL thread and I know there's some other Rovers fans on here who might be interested in seeing the highlights. I wasn't having a pop at you so why be defensive?
No, a youngster who I took to probably be his son. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Wouldn't any Rovers fans be looking for highlights of the latest Rovers win on a HKR site? I wouldn't be looking for any City highlights on a Rovers site, if they had one? So not defensive at all. I'm not having a pop at anyone, read the end of my post again, each to their own.
Agreed, the clubs are owned by local lads that have made a bit of cash, they run the clubs like fans and don’t have a whole lot of sports business acumen. The amount of times they sabotage the sports growth for self-preservation is frustrating. Then you have the governing body and the commercial arm, they have some well meaning people there but they pay peanuts so anyone good doesn’t stick around long. Rugby Union hasn’t done much better in recent years but at least they have money to throw at the problem.
I think it’s great that both Hull and Rovers are doing well, unfortunately it will bring some idiots out of the woodwork and reinforce the negative ideas some City fans have against the rugby clubs and their followers. Honestly I get it, it must be frustrating. No FC fan said a word last year but they win a few games a suddenly they’re going to win the grand final. And some Rovers fans have been like that for a couple of seasons now, it wasn’t that long ago half the fanbase walked away when they got relegated. I don’t think there has been a time in recent history when the attendance at all three clubs has been this positive at the same time, I think that should be celebrated, it’s great for the city.
Did I just hear a reporter on the BBC talking about tomorrows game say no matter who wins there a long way to go before either can lift the trophy Isn't the game a quarter final?
I hate rugby But thats silly nitpicking When we reached a cup qf We didnt lift the trophy Getting to the semi final is usally seen as a long way to go to win it Its not literal
Who did they play in the first round? Cross Keys or was it The Dog and Duck ? In football the top two leagues of 40 odd clubs enter ( not 12 like in RL) at the 3rd round stage. The qualify rounds of the FA Cup start around late August and the remaining 40+ league clubs enter at Round One, usually the first week in November. There is no comparison, whatsoever, no matter how much you look for it, between winning the RL Challenge Cup and the FA Cup.
Just been in branny cener and every other man woman and dog has dug out their FC or KR kit to wear today.
I was in Aldi earlier (times are hard) old City scarf on in full view, and the checkout lady asked if I was watching the rugby later. My reply was ' I follow City, and that's my limit', I resisted the temptation to sing the first line of it. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I wasn’t trying to argue which was harder to win, just correcting your mistake. Although now you’ve mentioned it, I agree the FA Cup is harder, but not for the reasons you claim. In the FA Cup, because of the larger pool you’ve actually got more chance of drawing weaker opposition, in the Challenge Cup it’s virtually impossible to avoid the top Super League clubs. Remember City made it the FA Cup final without playing anyone of note. The FA Cup is harder because it’s far easier for the underdog to win in football than it is in rugby. Games can be decided on luck and the better team doesn’t always win, in rugby the strength and speed difference is just too great and upsets very rarely happen.
Argue all you like matey, but I don't agree with you. It also seems that you are another one of the 'we were lucky to get to the Cup Final' brigade. If we were lucky, it means we have been lucky once in our history, which is why I don't believe a word of it. If there is one thing Hull City are not, and that's lucky. l
We've lost scores of FA Cup matches against teams that aren't of 'any note, the teams we beat on the way to the final didn't roll over for us. There's also the fact that not many teams relish a cup tie away to Boro or Brighton. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
And of course Sunderland didn't want to get to the Final that year and put one over there old boss did they? Not to mention little ole Sheffield United, they rolled over too didn't they because they didn't fancy being in the FA Cup Final?
