With just three fixtures remaining in their Premier League 2 campaign, Sunderland AFC Under-21s enter a pivotal period as they aim to secure a top-12 finish and qualification for next season’s Premier League International Cup. Graeme Murty’s young side faces a decisive run-in, with the final three clashes being played in seven days, beginning with Nottingham Forest at the Stadium of Light this Friday. Just days later, the Lads welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Eppleton on Monday night before concluding the campaign away to Aston Villa on Friday 11 April. The young Black Cats currently sit 13th in the division, one point off the top 12, which would earn the opportunity to compete in next season’s Premier League International Cup, while a top-16 finish would ensure qualification for the end-of-season Play-Offs, adding further incentive to the closing stages of the campaign. With momentum on their side following a strong display against Leeds United, Murty’s squad will be looking to build on their recent performances and finish the season on a high.
Embarrassing play acting from their keeper for the first goal, beaten from close range, goes to ground holding his head in the hope the goal is ruled out. Is this what we are teaching kids now?
Not the strongest of teams, due to first team call ups , rather see some of them playing tonight , rather than sitting out a game on the bench tomorrow , but looking forward to seeing how these lads cope
Good chance there. We don’t have the pace and physique to match some teams but we move the ball about really well.
Forest looked a canny side there. Hit the post a couple of times and probably had the better chances but our young lads did very well to dig in and keep going. Good point.
