What will Pompey's outcome be after this Football League Meeting. A week ago people were split about whether they would get a points deduction. I personally think it'll be a no. Your thoughts?
Can't see it myself, they're not in administration (yet!). Wait until they haven't got the means to start paying their CVA, then the League will act.
I hate to say but they really deserve it. It's the genuine fans that have suffered, but any business that is 'trading insolvent' should have been put out of business
I don't think they will lose any points, but anyone who says they are not linked is a fool, the cis or whatever they are called that's in administration is supposed to be paying the cva, if that's not a football related debt what is ? And another point if they can't pay it Then the agreement that was made ways surely null and void meaning they never really came out of administration in the first place! Sorry for the rant but it all makes my blood boil
I couldn't agree more, the day Pompey were in court my family were gathered around the TV watching SSN like it was the Royal Wedding! Unbelievable outcome. In that case can I ignore the tax man and only pay back a fifth of what I will eventually owe?
This thread has now been open for 30 mins so I am opening it up to Pompey fans. Wanted to see both sets of fans opinions on the subject
I would prefer not to comment on this thread for fear of upsetting our hypersensitive neighbours, some of our PFC loving fans and of course the mods. The Sword of Damacles hangs close over my head when we all know it should be hanging over Fratton Park. Ooops I didn't mean to say that.
I don't think they even have to start paying until March or something ridiculous. And even then, they can opt to pay right at the end of the payment period (not sure about that). I know their situation is similar enough to ours to make people think they should be treated the same, but there is a crucial difference in that CSI own a lot more companies than Portsmouth FC. Southampton Leisure Holdings only owned Southampton FC, so when they went into admin the League took the view, rightly or wrongly, that the two were effectively the same thing. They probably (I might be wrong) won't take the same view about CSI and Poopey.
Oh Godders. On to the subject matter. There will be no points deduction.....yet. It's too depressing to go over old ground for the reasons why but wait and see.
no they didnt. dont forget they owned that huge piece of old farm land and staplewood and other things too. we had assets that were worth a lot of money
This probably sounds like clutching at straws, but the outcome of the extradition hearing won't be known for another 8 days, maybe a lot will hang on that?
Oh Godders - I wouldn't worry too much if I were you - while Devo is away Singing Blue 3 has offered to be a temporary mod - he won't be as strict perhaps
As I remember, the farm land wasn't taken into account, and Staplewood was and is owned by the club, not the parent company. Anyway, I'm not saying I agree with what the League did, I'm just saying that that's the view they took. It may be that they take a similar view of the relationship between CSI and Portsmoth FC, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Oh Jen. You do surprise me sometimes. Lord Duckhunter set up Soton Leisure Holdings Ltd as a sham company thinking he could avoid any points deduction thru administration. It did'nt work as the League saw right through his little scheme. There was absolutely no other business involvment in SLH Ltd other than the football club. Convers are completely different. They came in and bought Pompey but already have a number of sporting business interests already. Do you get it now?
Not sure what any of this has got to do with PFC or their current plight. However, just for the record Souther Leisure Holdings were in place long before the club got into serious financial problems. Much though I despised Ruper Lowe, SLH were not set up to avoid any points deductions. To say there is no intrinsic link between Convers & PFC is frankly clutching at straws. Without monies going into the club from CSI - however that money was obtained - will most certainly result in the club defaulting on their comittments with all that implies. I think there is a time bomb ticking away
