I thought we went bottom after Walter left, and Dawson was in charge

A pattern of WLDWLD over a season is top half of the table form.

You could win the league without ever winning more than two in a row if you went WWLWWL.

Only 10 teams have won four in a row this season. Of those 10, only Derby, Millwall and QPR are not in the top half of the table, so it’s not like it’s something everyone is doing. It’s the first time Derby have done it in 5 years.

Lampard’s Coventry are an anomaly. They’ve averaged 1.9 points a game while he’s been there. Only bettered by Burnley, Leeds and Sheffield United.

If we’d picked up points like we have under Sellés all season we’d be 14th based on the current table.

If we beat just two of Stoke, Cardiff and Luton, we’d be 15th and have a 7 or 8 point gap over the bottom three. Our form under Sellés has improved but it hasn’t improved enough. I don’t think the problem is with the head coach either. The players lack resilience and consistency. You don’t get more points for beating Sheffield United and Sunderland away. You need to beat the teams around you at the bottom and so far we’ve lost against three of them. I can see us losing to Derby and Portsmouth too.

I can see Cardiff beating QPR and Derby beating Swansea this weekend. We need to beat Sheffield Wednesday and get at least a draw against Watford. Cannot rely on other teams dropping points because our players are bottlejobs.

I tell you what though - if we can get another win and we’re one point behind QPR - they are in terrible terrible form.

And if we’d lost against Sheffield United and Sunderland we’d be 23rd with a 6 point gap to safety. It doesn’t matter whether the teams we beat are around us or at the top of the table as long as we manage to get results. Since we’ve climbed out of the bottom three, when it had already looked hopeless, I think we can give the team some credit.

I’ll give them some credit at the end of the season if we manage to stay up.

You needed three teams well adrift which just isn’t the case now, for Derby to take 12 points from 12 plus Luton 7 from 9 is unusual but it is what it is, Massive slip by us on Saturday and now a number of clubs are in a very difficult position. It’s a mini league now with seven games to go, form teams can suddenly go off again with one defeat however it’s good to have momentum this time of the season. We are definitely right in it now, the players are going have to respond, it’s seven cup finals that points are needed from. It’s so close and hard to predict. Every single point will be vital.

Beating teams around you is more important. They're called six pointers for a reason. Three points for us, no three points for them creating a six point swing if (as is usually the case) it goes the other way. Not going to bother with the maths but I think we'd be better off beating two of Cardiff, Stoke and Luton rather than Sheff U and Sunderland.

I agree, as much as I rejoiced when The Allams sold up & Acun came in he has to take full responsibility for the situation City are in
In just over 3 years he is on his 5th manager (McCann, Shota,Rosenior,Walter,Selles)
So many players have come in I struggle to name half of the current squad
He should have got a proven Championship manager in from day one. Shota had no experience of managing in the EFL & was totally out of his depth. Sacking Rosenior & replacing him with Walter was a wreckless decision (another manager with no experience of managing in the EFL)
If City go down I wonder how long Acun will stick around ? When he took over his dream was to own a club playing in the Premier League
Next season he could be going to watch City at Mansfield, Northampton & Stevenage

I agree with your thoughts he was a breath of fresh air when he came in but the amount of managers and players which have come and gone was not creating stability be definitely interesting to see if he would still want to own the club if we were to go down

It is. If we beat Stoke and Cardiff, for example, we’d be on 41 points, Stoke would be on 39 and Cardiff on 37. Beating Stoke and Cardiff and losing to Sheffield United and Sunderland would’ve been far, far better.

This feels eerily similar to Sellés’ short stint as Southampton head coach a couple of seasons ago when Nathan Jones was sacked. He got some good results by beating Chelsea 1-0, drawing against Man Utd, Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool but losing to Leeds, West Ham, Bournemouth and Forest who were all in the bottom half. Southampton still went down.

And we will struggle because of the lack of support because everyone will be glued to their TVs watching the biggest derby in the universe and everywhere else. According to Cooper anyway.

Might ask around Granada, Spain to see if any bars are showing it, for a laugh.

    Que?

I hope he doesn’t stick around much longer. I can’t stand the bloke and I can live without the silly gimmicks like him going to pubs to mingle with fans or free holidays. Give me a boring, practical business owner whose name I barely know and whose face I couldn’t pick out of a crowd. Some statistics/data-driven former hedge fund manager like Tony Bloom or Matthew Benham.

Acun is one temper tantrum or perceived insult away from turning into someone like Chansiri.
