Chart for the Week. First things first. I had a message from @cumbrianmackem asking to be removed from the weekly chart. I understand why, so as requested I've removed scores from the chart. If you're reading @cumbrianmackem, take care mate. Onto the chart, and it's been a bit of a mixed bag. No fails this week, but only x5 scores under 25, and just the x1 in the 30's club (sorry @Ron, it's not you). Star of the Week goes to @Ron (sorry!!) with a score of 19. Well done mate, but those barmaids man....what have you done. Runner up spot goes to @malagamackem with a score of 20. Honourable mentions to: @Monkey69 with 21, @Black Siamese Cat with 22, and @WillD with 23. Just clockerty in the 30's club. Along with the barmaids, the place should be spick and span for next week.
Cheers @Snaggey for the chart. @cumbrianmackem you just happen to be very good at this game. Disappointed to see you leave it's always good fun. Cheers again and take care all.
Sorry to see you go CM. Probably got bored thrashing us mediocre bunch week in week out. I presume you will continue to play with your missus
Thanks for the kind words lads but just to put you all in the picture this is why I've left.... On Sunday Gordon asked me to PM him and explain how I'd got an eagle on the word Quota intimating it was practically impossible to achieve that word in 2 goes. Despite thinking this was a strange request I complied and he saw how I'd done it but alluded that some of you on here were suspicious of my consistent low scoring and without actually accusing me I took that some of you thought I was cheating which I strongly deny. I immediately decided to stand down cos I wasn't prepared to continue with that background hanging over me. I wish you all well and yes Ron her indoors and myself will continue to play on, in fact I got yesterday's word in 2. Continue to support Snaggey lads, he's a good bloke, it's just not for me anymore.
It’s a bit of craic and fun some people are just naturally competitive and don’t like being beat, I aspire to get to as good as you can’t see it happening tho all the best m8
I haven't got the time to do this but, if you know a few people's starting word, you could have a pretty good guess on your first attempt as a high % of words have been eliminated. I'm usually first on so not much help to me. Most probability figures you see are based on the full Wordle Target list of 2,315 words. If you take out the 1,382 words already used that leaves 933 possible correct answers (which, of course, reduces every day) which increases the chances of winning. That's if you know the list of remaining possible answers. Conversely, if you aren't aware of the Target list, there are in fact nearly 13,000 words that it will accept as valid guesses which clearly reduces your chances significantly. At some point WORDLE will either re-introduce words previously used and/or bring in some unused words from the full WORDLE dictionary Personally, I am aware of the unused words as at a month or so ago (never bother to check the up to date list) so that is a considerable help but still requires plenty of guesswork/working out depending on how the first guess goes (hence I've been in the 30s club more than once, and not intentionally I add). One thing I would never do is to go to those pages that gives one clue after another and finally, the answer. I am aware of these purely out of curiosity once. Completely defeats the object Bearing in mind my little cheat sheet of remaining words, I'm clearly pretty crap because I'm probably about average overall in league positions That gives me an idea. Oh no I hear you groan. If we accumulae the weekly scores we could publish a running league table based on a points system to be decided (eg it could be simply the number of guesses each week, or 3 points, 2 points, 1 point or 0 points depending on the group of scores eg 3 points for under 20 to 0 points for 30 or more) Somebody shoot me
