So do you think that would A, enhance our reputation or B, encourage other players to come …

… no is the answer, to both, in my opinion .

I agree with your "everyone is different" take on the discussion, as EJK said, we need to rise above the personal insults and state our opinions about the club.

The match threads are probably the best thing about the board and he's actually asked people not to bring spurious arguments on and derail them …

… but every one is ruined by people posting about players we should’ve signed, players who are injured and shouldn’t have signed or those we should just kick out of the club.

When an unused sub is endlessly debated for two days it’s no surprise people can’t be bothered to post. If these opinions are so important to people, that’s absolutely fine …

… just start a thread so any interested people can debate it.

Poor form. Samed seems to have history in liking Newcastle posts and won't get the hate of the mags. Seelt here for a long time and should know better.

We do have people on this forum in match threads especially who appear as soon as we concede and overreact to how bad things are. But likewise we have people who are overwhelmingly positive and won't countenance debate or anything negative at all. And those two polar opposite approaches butt heads and end up making each side even stronger in their convictions.

The reality, and where the true value of forums like this lie, is somewhere in the middle. We should be able to discuss mistakes that players and the club have made without it becoming an argument between two exaggerated viewpoints.

Like this one, the basis of this thread. The two players in question have clearly made a bit of a PR gaffe. I couldn't care less about it, but the club should and probably will be educating them to do better next time.

This doesn't mean the club have "failed" or the players are a "disgrace". In the same way Luke O'Nien can miss a penalty without it "clearly" being a sign of weak leadership.

Likewise when RLB didn't make subs on Saturday. We won the game. RLB doesn't deserve to be called "Regis Le Bore" or be accused of never being willing to change games. But likewise people who have concerns that he doesn't use subs enough shouldn't be dismissed as moaners. We can and should be able to point out the problems with not rotating players enough, and discuss the possible long term impact of this, whilst also acknowledging he definitely knows a lot more about football than anyone on this forum.

In all we just as a collective need to be better at not jumping to extremes, and not using language that provokes or exacerbates.

I honestly haven’t seen anyone like that on this forum.

Personally I become exasperated when a specific point is made over and over again for no good reason …

… it becomes like a campaign to get the club to ‘do the right thing’ which they wouldn’t even if they were watching the thread.

Personal insults against fellow posters was what I was referring to, we can all have opinions on the values of players. It just seems like only negative comments prevail on the match thread which spoils it for RTB. I don't read them at the time I'm at the match or watching the away game at home.

As with the BCB thing the Mags won’t laugh at the club or two players ‘liking’ something harmless on a chat platform …

… what they’ll laugh at are hysterical reactions from Mackems.

I stopped going on the match thread a while back, but then started again a few weeks back.
I stopped because of the constant negativity from certain posters. It got to where I could read a negative posts before looking at the avatar, and know who posted it. When its repeated over and over it gets very tedious, very quickly.
    .

I went back on the match threads because @RTB deserves it. He puts a lot of effort into it, and really sets the scene for us non match going fans. I follow the thread, but if we lose or draw, or even a bloody win lately, I'm straight off after the final whistle, it's become that unbearable.
    @RTB deserves better.
