Ye the levels are miles apart You only need to be watching to see the preston v villa game now To see the difference in midfielders
Fair question. But surely the preparation would only be drawing up lists of potential targets etc, not actually signing players in January for a potential relegation the next season (unless you are nailed on to go down and someone too good to miss became available, perhaps).
Id take a guess that thr club are a bit disappointed that josephs not kicked on more so far But its still early days
We spent just over £25m solely on transfer fees this season on the players we've brought in. I'd argue that we could have spent £10m on somebody like Jay Stansfield and used the other £15m to bulk out the squad. It isn't that we can't sign these players, it's that we don't, either because we piss about trying to negotiate terms for too long or because we just assume that the goals are going to come from elsewhere. In fact, we knew we didn't do right by our forward line because we brought in Pedro after the transfer window had closed, so somebody somewhere realised we cocked up. We brought in both Crooks and Palmer, while also bringing in Matazo when we had Alzate, Mehlem, Puerta, Slater and Vaughan at the club being paid. It's the same with the goalkeeper situation, why make such a fuss about Pandur last season to the point where it openly caused an issue, only to bring in both Racciopi and Rushworth when TLT was apparently good enough to be second choice all along? We have the money, we're just ****ing **** at planning and seemingly panic buy when we don't need to, leaving key areas short in quality. Assuming we stay up and we have some cash to spend, two thirds of whatever is spent in the Summer should be on a marquee striker. The rest can be made up with loans and smaller fees.
We've got almost 15m injured atm So yea I hope we dont go panic more wingers Sign a good forward and hope players like kamara develop more And millar n belloumi are still good A good forward really can make or break a team especially in the championship
We have had awful injuries, but we still brought in Lincoln and Amrabat for nothing during the January window and we still have Kamara. It's so frustrating because the first thing on the list should be a striker if you're not scoring goals. If the work isn't being done now for Summer, I'd be very worried indeed.
Scary we’ve spent about £25m on transfer fees on a squad of about 50 players and don’t have a settled or functional team.
But its more likely that Burstow goes on loan at the end of august Panic and realise we are short We dilly dally all summer deciding who to keep and then sign another 7 players of varying positions
I’ve said it repeatedly on here and various other places. If we do go down the onus is entirely on the owner meddling about playing football manager. We have absolutely faffed with a lot of money on absolute tosh to shift them off at discounts later. This constant short-termism by Acun has driven us to this league position this year. A complete squad overhaul yes was going to happen. However, to sack the manager then piss about for ages getting his replacement and then piss about getting players in all whilst letting bigger clubs take our two prize assets at a discount was nothing short of sabotage. Walter was a ****e appointment. That is with heavy hindsight and I don’t think even if we’d got an experienced head like Cooper or even if we’d kept Rosenior that we would’ve done very well this year. Injuries shafted us yes but to expect cohesion with all the turnover is stupid. We needed stability and gradual growth. Instead we got an owner that pushed all the chips in on a slim chance of promotion and got pissed off when it didn’t come off despite it being the hardest championship in recent memory on top of injuries to key players in the run in.
Joseph is at least starting games regularly, which means he's doing something right. He needs to do more, but to be honest I thought the problems yesterday were in the buildup and the midfield rather than in the final third.
I didn’t get yesterday at all, Gelhardt has been decent through the centre, so stick him on the wing, Joseph has done nothing, stick him up front, Crooks replaces Joseph, he goes out on the left, at times, the equivalent of LB. Bizarre all round! Was Hughes the first shot on target? Or just the first with any effort.
