Just looked at the table and we now have the joint fifth best home record in the championship.....not bad for a team that apparently arent great at home!
When we went 2-1 up last night, parts of the east stand tried to start up the old "How **** must you be, we're winning at home" and it was booed back down to where it belongs. I liked that. A **** song and no longer appropriate.
That song annoys me. People were singing it at away games half way through our outstanding away run! In fairness though, I think last night it was just a response to them singing it after their goal.
I hate it too, but as Theo says, last night it was just a response to them singing it. I also really liked the 'Liam Rosenior, his Nan is from Hull' song, subtly switching to 'Boaz Myhill, his kids are from Hull'.
I noticed the Brumscum fans were, as Ricardo put it, 'winning a Y' just like West Ham fans were. Do they have a wheel of fortune game going on in the away stand that we don't know about?
That reminds me, I need to go trawling the official facebook page about that. The other day someone had put on a comment about only E1, 2, and 3 making any noise and got a response back about how the more intelligent fans elsewhere might join in if they weren't singing moronic songs like that that slag off City as well as the opposition. I didn't see if there was any comeback to that.
It never was appropriate. We stole it from Birmingham in the second PL season, who at the time were very bad away, but beat us to end their awful away run. We copied it every home game after that, ironically it was the season we didn't win an away game, and before Dowie took over only 3 teams beat us at home (and they all went on to qualify for the Champions League) so it couldn't have been any less appropriate. I loved that too. Apparently the 'He's one of our own' song was subtly switched to Myhill instead of Barmby immediately after McLean's goal, but I didn't hear it myself.
I said on another thread our home form is in stark contrast to what we saw last season, we've picked up 18 points at home from a possible 30. Repeat that over the next 10 home games then that's promotion form.
