Independent MP Rupert Lowe got these numbers from the DWP: 2023 Universal Credit – £726m to ‘households where at least one claimant’s HRT concluded they held refugee status’. 2024 Universal Credit – £1,103m to the same. That is only 1.8% of the total claimed. How many of these people are members of the 42,000 asylum seekers whose claims were rejected by the Home Office but are using free legal aid (paid for by the British taxpayer) to appeal that decision? It is only £33m (nice little earner for Leftie lawyer friends of Sir Keith Stalin) but how much is it costing to house them and provide other public services while they appeal? Should they not just be kicked out of the country? Allowing them to claim that they are gay Christians so that they cannot be deported will soon fill the 1.5 million houses that Stalin is not going to build.
