By the way, the Global Sports Editor at Reuters, Ossian, is a Saints fan. That doesn’t mean they suddenly report favourably about Saints.

Although I have blocked Os I have to admire the way he has so many people talking to/at him. Just when you think someone is going to, or they do, cut him off they jump back into the game.
This is how I see Os.

I don't doubt that there is a lot of really murky and underhand dealings going on with both the Democrats abd Republicans. I am not sure how much of this is a direct result of Russian meddling or , as I feel, is largely background noise.

The argument presented against Os breaks down when you realise just how dishonest both factions are. I find Trump abhorrent but even if you take the example of America’s best , recent president, it does not take much delving to see how many Muslims were killed by his regime in Pakistan....a supposed ally.

I do not think America has ever been a transparent ally. I can well believe that all parties in the US are tangled in a complicated Web and that journalists are probably fed crumbs so as not to report on more serious issues. I think PA and Reuters are trying to do a good job but are probably not whiter than white.

I think Os is totally wrong on praising the more proTrump media outlets which are proving untrustworthy. Unfortunately the 'legacy' media is getting penalised because it is hostile to Trump when to ignore the failings means journalists are not doing their job. The mainstream media is openly hostile to Trump and it is question as to whether they are behaving reasonably or not.

The press is exceptionally hostile to Trump and never post anything positive about him. I am not convinced it is bias but do feel there is a media frenzy because there is a strong likelihood of a scandal bigger than Watergate. Trump is the biggest show in town and I concur that Trump will eventually shut the mainstream media down. It was not possible in 1974 but I feel Trump will achieve this.

Then like Os, you’re confusing the difference between outlets like Reuters and media like the Mail/Telegraph/Times/WaPo etc.

Please read the Reuters Trust Principles. Now of course it would be easy to come back and say “yeah why should I believe that” if you have no insight into how seriously they take this, but I can assure you they take it incredibly seriously. Often to the detriment of them being first/breaking a story etc. It’s literally the basis of everything they do.

It is a difficult argument because Trump is so odious but that fact does not absolve the media in US of accurately reporting. For example, ABC reached a15 million dollar settlement for deformation with Trump in December. CBS news and CNN are facing similar lawsuits. If ABC were doing their job, they would not have lost tge case.

I cannot comment in Reuters but I genuinely respect your knowledge which is consistently balanced on this thread.

I feel Trump will succeed in shutting down some media outlets and silence many broadcasters. We will also see journalist imprisoned. I am really pessimistic about what Trump will do but even more frightened by Vance. As the Democrats are incompetent and will be enviscerated by Trump in this term , we need the press to stand up to him otherwise the consequences will be severe.

I see Nicola Sturgeon has been exonerated of fraud by the lengthy enquiry. She has far more reason to complain of unfavourable press coverage than Trump.

Not surprised to see her husband up before the beak. I think most people would have anticipated this conclusion years ago.

Telegraph reporting Netanyahu telling Palestinians to leave Gaza before Trump forces them out.

I expect Os will be too busy counting his dividends from Tesla to care about this.

The cost of the police `operation` has cost many more times than the £600k donation which is alleged to have been embezzled. I`d prefer the police to use their resources on getting after real criminality than engaging in witch hunts like this. Who will be accountable for the misuse of public funds ?

    Exactly.

I just feel that this was a hatchet job on the the most effective politician (in the wider sense )in the UK since 2000.

Wish she had not pursued the gender ID issue so vigorously but along with Ahern and the Finnish PM, briefly offered the world a brave and ambitious alternative to toxic male politics.

I believe were genuine moves in the medical profession to get this recognised as a true condition but it was unsuccessful.

I think Trumpcession will catch on, though.

Surely you don't mean DOGE Boy, the adolescent rocket scientist and Teska expert ?

I am impressed that he knows so much about cars despite being too young to drive. Obviously watching past episodes of 'Top Gear ' in between posting in here. But genuinely needs to be cut some slack as the board's youngest poster . The acne cream obviously has some chemicals in it which makes he go a bit batty.

A French scientist has had his visa application refused today for posting anti Trump tweets. This has been reported in French media today.

Bad tweets unacceptable unless in Europe when it becomes a freedom of speech issue.
