Yes I would agree with that. Talksport were saying that we have the best midfield 3 in the country. I can’t argue with that. We have 3 very good players and they complement each other with their strengths.
Burn has been nominated for something of Northumberland. Basically he can go where the **** he wants without objection. So if I was you I would be checking the camera feeds for a tall fella coming on site.
So people deriding the suggestion that Howe should have a statue build. Robson and Shearer have statues of themselves, EH has done more for the club that either of them, simple as that.
Not sure tbh. For me a League Cup win is great, breaks the cycle of failure and is hopefully the springboard toward further success but, IMHO, not statue worthy. Now if he wins a league or CL then yeah of course a statue for him, but for one League Cup? What do we do for him if he wins the FA Cup next - rename the city "Howetopia" and then if he wins the CL we'll have to fight off Trump to invade Greenland and rename that after him! Shearer and Robson, were on the terraces as kids, came in and made huge differences in the clubs fortunes - just in different ways to Howe, finished their careers with us, and returned to the terraces after their time with the club. 76 years and 54 years of love, blood, sweat and tears those two gave for the club, Howe has done well in his 4 years but let's not get over excited in comparing him to the local legends of the club...
Robson did well in turning the club around from a disastrous position to a CL team, he did have plenty to spend though and he never got close to winning a trophy. Howe has been here a similar time, and has transformed us and has had more success and won something simple as that. Likewise Keegan never got close to winning the FA Cup/league cup, he just blew the league. People can debate the issues that caused that - Asprilla, Batty, Ferguson's mind games etc....but the fact is that Howe had similar issues with Hall, Gordon and Botman with the final and got the win. Keegan blew it, Howe didn't. I don't want a statue of him now (that's something for much later in time, if it does happen), but given what he's achieved, he easily warrants it if we have a bust and statue of Robson already....when Howe leaves he should be commemorated with something. Not a statue now though, that would be like the cringey knighting of Gareth Southgate. Shearer is maybe different cos of the time he gave to the club and the fact he could have gone somewhere else and won something. Howe still has the trophy though.
Ok I agree with that 100%. He should definitely be honored in someway as the first successful manager in 50+ years. I honestly believe that he will go on and win bigger and better prizes also (especially if we back him this summer it could be the start of the transformation - the butterfly from the cocoon era) so will in all likelihood end up with a Statue, maybe a stand and probably some local roads and sports venues etc names after him as well.
I was vocal in thinking that Howe and CL qualification was his peak. I was wrong and for me, he has now earned the right to stay on a lot longer. I will no longer be so hasty and Im actually looking forward to the league run in and even more excited for the summer transfer window, which I hope will take us to PL challengers or at least top 5 consistency. I really hope the league cup win is also a very nice send off for those that are coming to the end of their NUFC careers Dubs, Wilson, Longstaff etc.
I don't think he even necessarily has to win more. If he ends up being here for 10 years and we compete in more finals, push at the top of the league and get to the latter stages of European football etc then that kind of legacy, alongside the trophy, would be enough for me. If he gets another trophy then it's a definite for me.
Tbf, that's because Delusional changed his username. But don't tell Jak, we wouldn't want Trev getting a prediction league points deduction.
