I agree with your last sentence, as I always have. But you are again either misquoting or misunderstanding the actual implications of the Ceasefire Text. You continue to cite the Text's three stages as if they were one legally binding agreement with three subcategories. This simply isn't true. In reality, the three stages do not inevitably follow each other. I draw your attention to the bit next to Phases Two and Three that says "If agreed". That should be a clue. Phase One set out a recommendation only of what Phase Two should look like. The only thing Phase One obliges the two sides in is to engage in talks, direct or indirect, with the aim of agreeing Phase Two. These talks were held. Both with the USA and separately through Qatari and Egyptian mediators, Israel tabled its proposal and Hamas rejected it, as it was entitled to but of course to reject it opened up the possibility of resumed conflict with an opponent who has never really wanted peace at any point in his entire political career. Phase Two negotiations had a very clear moratorium of six weeks which ended at the beginning of March. There has been no progress since then, so Israel has acted. So once again, Hamas gambled with the lives of its so called protectorate and once again it has lost.
Recently released hostage Tel Shoham gave eye witness testimony last week that throughout his captivity in Gaza, he was constantly moved from place to place so that Hamas could start digging new tunnels to replenish its network. Also, like Piskie I see you have misunderstood the actual text of the Ceasefire Agreement. Nothing in it made Phase Two inevitable unless Phase One went well and negotiations proceeded. Phase One didn't go at all well, largely thanks to Hamas' ridiculous posturing and hostage release parades. Negotiations also didn't go well because Israel asked for an extension of Phase One and Hamas said no, so here we are.
Israel stalled on implementing phase 2 and wanted to extend the ceasefire on their own and US terms. Let's not try and cloud this issue. Hamas were always ready to negotiate and release the hostages in full when phase 2 had started. Israel 'broke' the terms of the ceasefire on multiple occasions, shelling civilians returning to northern Gaza, withholding aid and now in the most disgusting and bloody way they know, slaughtering hundreds of innocent people, most of which were women and children Defending this barbarism is sick.
You can't 'stall' something that only exists as a recommendation. Neither side is open to negotiation, stop kidding yourself. Hamas only stopped their absurd hostage parades after Trump went batshit crazy with them. Didn't care one iota that Israel was asking for weeks that they should stop and that they were only further infuriating the Right wing who were itching for a return to conflict. Hamas have done nothing to help their civilian population in this entire equation, stop pretending this is just down to Israel.
The negotiations were proceeding as best as they could have been and phase 2 would have seen all of the Israeli hostages releases and the withdrawal of IDF in Gaza. The parading of the hostages is just noise, Israel were degrading Palestinian prisoners too You know as well as I do that Netanyahu was never going to allow it to happen and so he's got what he wanted, more bloodshed He's even attacking the West Bank now which isn't even under Hamas control The man is a ****ing war criminal
Israel media are full of speculation that there’s politics in this deadly mix - Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has to pass the national budget by the end of this month. His right-wing allies keeping him in power want the Gaza war to go on. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/czje23jd779t A blood thirsty leader, only propped up by a group of Nazis It's no surprise we're seeing this **** slaughtering women and children to keep his premiership safe Hope the **** dies a horrible and prolonged painful death.
I have a lot of respect for you but this is just plain myopia. - The negotiations were not proceeding as best as they could. There were multiple delays to hostage releases and even the horrifying spectacle where the wrong body was returned. Neither of those were agreed in negotiations. - The parades are absolutely not 'background noise'. They are controlled and calculated shows of force by Hamas reinforcing the commonly held belief that they have absolutely no intention of disarming or handing over power to someone less genocidal. - If negotiations were proceeding as best as they could, why didn't Hamas simply listen to Israel the first dozen times and release the hostages in a civilised and dignified way? Why did it take Trump intervening for that grotesque spectacle to stop? - The parades simply played into the hands of the very same right wing parties you go on to speak about. Hamas basically wrote Ben Gvir's speeches in the Kenesset for nearly two months. There was zero appetite to resume the conflict among the crucial center-right bloc when the ceasefire was first signed. Fast forward to the present and that bloc has shifted much closer to Ben Gvir's position. We have the "background noise" to thank for that.
All you seem to be able to concentrate on is the parading of hostages. This is such a minor detail in the grand scheme of the negotiations and moving this ceasefire forward All of the hostages were released as per the agreement. Phase 2 should have begun after that, but again, as you know, Netanyahu does not want peace and he was going to find ANY pretext to blame Hamas so that he could return to the slaughter. Israel's problem with far right politics is it's own dark shadow to try and overcome and they are entirely responsible for it.
Anyway, I'm watching footage of bloodied and lifeless children being brought on carts by donkeys to hospital and I've had enough of this ****. And now all of those Hostages are going to die too. Anybody who is backing this slaughter can go and **** themselves.
Naftali Bennet on the tele now losing his **** and crying about fat terrorists, claiming it means Israel aren't blocking aid to Gaza The ****
People have been calling this for weeks, I certainly have. Hamas parading the hostages and sending back a wrong body were horrific actions that were inviting a response. Once again the Palestinian civilians are suffering because of their actions.
Oh and the Palestinians that took the option of returning ‘home’ instead of looking for another country…
No way would I have returned there with my family. Imagine you are one of the fathers that did, and just seen his kids wiped out as a result of his decision to 'go home'. I said it all along utter madness. They've all been warned to get out again as more attacks will be incoming.
They could have made a collective decision that it's not safe...let alone not being fit for human habitation.
