I cannot agree with the comment about Sai to exceeding expectations. Most pointless season ever. At least there was some passion in the dark days of Branfoot. We have had nothing to cheer since August - absolutely hopeless and reason why I think SR need to be binned. Football is about entertainment. None of that this season.
Remember how excited people got about Sulemana in January after one and a half good games saying we shouldn't sell him etc. He's ****ing awful.
Like most young wingers, he (and Dibling) blow hot and cold. It's so rare to find a winger who plays consistently well every game. Still think we've missed a trick never playing Sulemana through the middle. But yeah, I'd happily take 12m for him this summer. Just not good enough, even for the Champ.
Unfortunately he is our most effective forward thinking player ! If you think he is bad, what about Cameron Archer ? I thi k Archer is garbage and will be rubbish in the Championship too.
I think Archer will do much better in the championship next season than Sulemana did last season. Sulemana has pace and a bit of skill but lacks football intelligence and has atrocious decision making. That'd without even mentioning his appalling work rate.
Yeah don't disagree. But you'd hope for at least 50-50 particularly when spending £25m or whatever it was. But yeah regardless we should definitely move him on in the Summer.
He reminds me often the early Adarma Traore. Bags of speed but is rarely capable of producing any final result. Perhaps he needs more time. Unfortunately he is not going to get it in an appalling team. Playing for Saints can crush any love of football.
Yeah similar but Traore is an absolute unit though whereas with Sulemana I reckon if I have a few puffs on a cigar I could knock him over with a cough.
Agreed that wingers can be incnsistent. A good example of that was Redmond, who we all know wasn’t a world beater. However… Sulemana isn’t fit to lace his boots. I genuinely think Sulemana is a league one player. The fact we paid so much of him is absolutely absurd. Another example of our horrendous scouting
I agree to some extent but have realised that at this stage of things, blaming, criticising players is a waste of time. We know absolutely nothing about what is actually taking place in the Boardroom, the training ground, the dressing room. Yes, it’s obvious to all that the result of all the activities within those areas is appalling but now we await to see if a reset will be more successful, fingers crossed and all that. In the meantime, I’m done with finding ways to be annoyed etc.
I still remember the first time I set eyes on sulemana, didn't think much of him. Looked like a stiff breeze could knock him over.
The issue I have with Sulemana is that he doesn’t utilise his pace enough. His best game this season was at Old Trafford where he just put his head down and ran them ragged (until Juric switched him to the other flank iirc). His stop/go style just allows defences to regroup and cut out crosses etc. Someone will get a tune out of him but probably not here.
So sad that I, along with more & more I assume, are now even resigned to the impending obvious, we’re going to take Derby’s record. This season has continued to pull every ****ing rug out. Just when we didn’t think it could get any worse, whoosh & there it goes again. Atrocious at every level, facet.
I thought Redmond was inconsistent but better than most Saints fans thought. There is a good player there inside of Sulemana but I feel he is not being coached properly. With him, the issue is with Juric not being good enough to get rid of the errors and poor decisions in his game. Same issue with Archer who , unlike Sulemana, is not good enough for PL.
We probably have about 3/4 players good enough for this league and Sulemana isn't one of them. He wasn't good enough for the championship.
We seem to be stuck with the number 9 on our record, goals and points. Funnily enough we don’t have a number 9 playing. Edit: Just remembered San Tejon said something similar on the Derby County thread.
