In your opinion, is this squad better or worse than how Conte left it? You are blaming the injuries of 4 centre backs, one who just arrived, on the manager's style of play? Weird. Adjust what exactly? Temporarily play more like Conte or Mourinho to protect said centre backs? Play for the goaless draw until the players return? Throw cup competitions earlier so the players have less games? Any progressive manager is still going to need fit centre backs, and back up for said centre backs, for the change you seek to be evident, no? We actually have a manager who dared to do it all despite not having the best tools, and we are crucifying him for it before he's had a fair crack. Seems odd to me.
I'd much prefer to play out the rest of the season as best we can. Get those players playing to the best of ability and get as far up that table as we can. There is so much to improve there's no point wishing away this season and hoping that some miracle manager will come in and fix this mess.
I am not sure about no decent manager/coach would come. There are some decent players here who are better than our results suggest and if they were to be utilised by a coach who plays to their strengths and not the single predetermined chaos theory that Ange employs we could be relatively competitive in the league and domestic cups. Don't ask me who but there are people out their would would jump at the chance to manage us.
Results don’t lie. They’ve been woeful in the league bar his first ten games. How long does he need before he’s had a ‘fair crack’ Yes I blame him for some of the injury issues as so many are muscle injuries and he rushed back Romero and Van Der Ven against Chelsea which was a huge mistake. You may well be Ange in until the end. But it’s far from weird (your words) to not be convinced by the hapless Australian
I agree. I'm not saying Iraola would rather stay at Bournemouth, more that he may be earmarked, or feel he's in the running for a job at one of the super clubs in the next couple of years and therefore prefer to stay and continue his work rather than take more of a risk coming to us first. It happens with players all the time.
What's number 1 on the hit parade? "Poor old Tottenham.can't play football!!!" Oh! How can I be so cruel?Bloody easy!!! Is this to continue next season?
They'll get the summer and transfers either way and this final 2 months is a free hit for them as there's no expectations and it's also 2 more months to assess the players and prepare for what they want in the transfer window. When Pochettino came in it took us about 12 games to really start to see the press work and there was the Villa game where Pochettino said he thought they'd get the sack before a late turnaround. We also would've sold Kane in the summer if Palace had met our asking price. We needed several bits of luck that we may not have needed if Pochettino was with the team for the last couple of months of the previous season.
It's not strictly time, it's players. Yep, rushing the defenders back was a mistake, was that him or medical staff? Are we assuming he went against medical advise? Either way he knew that the backup wasn't up to it and was trying to avoid the inevitable. He is also extremely reluctant to rush them back again now, hence us shipping two goals against Fulham pretty much as soon as Romero left the pitch. Which would you prefer? Apparently we can't have it both ways. Gray and Davies ain't good enough. Romero and Van de Ven, with even Gray in the midfield and we don't lose today. I'm not convinced by Ange, I'm just less convinced that changing again now is going to improve things without the glaringly obvious player situation at the base of our spine improving. I'm not convinced that Ange is the entire problem. The main problem is lack of sturdy spine in the team. We arguably had a stronger spine with Conte. It was just less exciting in places but much more reliable. Especially with Kane papering over the cracks. It's weird to me to think as if Ange is the problem and not the squad. If some of the current signings came in around the Conte spine we'd be better off. Give Ange a spine he can rely on, with decent backup options, not teenagers out of position and misfit players. A few more sturdy, reliable, adult players. It's not Sunday league, we can't just rock up to any game and win because we're Spurs and we have some fancy players. That is my definition of a fair crack.
I definitely agree Ange isn’t the only problem. I also agree replacing him wouldn’t mean an immediately fix. I just think he’s not the solution and that there are more negatives to him than positives. Spurs could get in a manager who could carry on the rebuild and carry on developing Bergvall, Mikey Moore etc. The base and structure is there for Spurs to really push on with the right manager.
please log in to view this image Just a thought: maybe set the narrative by bringing them up? It's not just managers at the top end of the table such as Ferguson, Paelladyce et al who benefit from criticising refs after every game - Gordon Strachan and Sam Allarshyte were at the other end of the table and their kvetching about referees regularly bought them enough benefit of the doubt that it would keep them up
