Don't understand why everyone keeps calling him awful. Let show some stats on other top strikers this season:

    Carroll - 5 goals
    Hernandez - 6 goals
    Drogba - 5 goals
    Bent - 5 goals

Now Rooney hasn't scored in eight games now, after a succession of hatricks, he's dried up.

The only strikers scoring consistently are Van Perise, Balotelli and Ba this season.

Difference is that the 4 people i've said haven't been bashed in the media and rival fans, but Carroll has.

Money aside here, if he is getting stick then surely the players i've mentioned should also be labelled awful also.

Also, Carroll as a player contributes a lot, he wins a lot of headers, runs for the team and tries to prove himself for others, when in fact he shouldn't have to at all.

When he's on, one defender has to stay by him, when the ball is in the air someone has to challenge him, more often than not he would win this ball and Suarez would run off of it, watch the Fulham game.

Hernandez and Bent offer nothing in setting up play and being play makers, they are goalscorers. Yet, they haven't been good in front of goal this season, yet no one brings these players up.

Carroll isn't a goal scorer, he's heads balls on, uses his strength and hold up play for others to get involved and yeah, scores maybe 10/15 a season.

If he wasn't doing these jobs as i've listed, then we can criticize him then, but he's doing what he knows best, and effectively well.

If your going to criticize a player, do it for the job they are meant to do, not what you think they should do.

Agreed, Saurez is another player not producing goals and Kuyt isn't either yet people are calling for Kuyt to played up top instead of Carroll. Would like to see Carroll start on Saturday. <ok>

    can't agree.

sorry cos i like the lad, he seems a nice bloke and is always smiling but god he on at least two occasions stopped running when we were on a break cos he just couldn't keep up.

Hangeland ate him up on monday... sorry but thats whats going on.

FOr the record I've said suarez is missing the target too much.

    Andy? interesting stats there......

Bent is playing in a pretty poor villa side.... drogba got dropped by chelsea for torres so....

lets just look at the games and goals here.

he played 13 games this year but only 729 mins (lfc website)

    exeter...
Everton, vital winner when in the box and enrique does well on the wing..
west brom, suarez played the ball in and andy held of the defender and fired it in

I don't think he's got 5 goals.... i would like you to say where the other two were?

all in all the lad had to wait his change but overall when he gets in the box he can get on the end of suarez and others creativity..... people need to realise he's not getting in there and a forward needs to work togo do that....

My bad, meant to do 3.

If you re-watch the Fulham, he won the majority of the balls in the air and was running around, charging down everything. This is the sort of thing we need from that sort of player.

He's hit the post 3 or 4 times this season, if they went in everyone would be saying how amazing Carroll is, not to mention Hart's amazing save against him.

The guy hasn't had the best of luck this season, but his luck will come.

not in the first half... in the second half the lad got a bit better and got off the ground more (which helped) now bless him he tried to help out defesnively and all that too but he just couldn't get back up into the attack at times.... or in other words he's got to get his priorities right.

in the end sure had he buried that one v city and not seen it saved, or that snap shot had have gone in and not at schwarzer.... but thats the thing, when he's in the box he gets chances... when he's off out some place else he's not able to get back in position...... needs to either get fitter or get tactically more astute....

as i said he's had to wait his chance a bit as his figures show but 13 games to suarez 14 shows kenny might have benched him but he was giving him a chance too... i think he's got a lot to do though...

Obviously he has a lot to do, he wasn't bought as an impact player like Suarez was.

Next season is the season where we can really complain about whether he's Liverpool quality or not, right now he needs to just realize what he needs to do to be Liverpool standard, which he will do.

He has, but he's getting there (I hope!) A lot of his performances are curate's eggs in that he does some good stuff, but then spoils it all by missing an 'easy' chance (or penalty) and it's only ever the latter that people remember him for.

On a related note, I thought Henderson had a couple of nice runs last night. That one off the post would've been a brilliant goal.
