I'll caveat this with that it's a simplistic take from a position of very little knowledge, but: I wonder how useful these summits even are in the scheme of things. We know what needs doing, the science is all there, and the world seems to put loads of time and effort into debating and posturing about taking action but seemingly not so much effort goes into actually taking any action.
Terrible. It's because of things like this why ppl vote for Trump, hate the media and are cynical about anything that politicians and government scientists publish.
Why would they hate the media for bringing these things into the open? We wouldn’t have heard about it otherwise.
Extending the airport to double the number of passengers. But if we build one runway and don’t achieve net zero our less than 1% of the world’s emissions will destroy the planet and be responsible for the end of civilisation.
Full of shagging??? May I put myself forward as the UK,s representative. Bloody hope Greta,s not there.
Most 'environmental' conferences are sponsored by gulf states or energy companies.....bit like an abbatoir sponsoring a vegetarian trade show
It isn't a good look for sure but to put some context to it the Amazon is losing around 10k acres daily due to logging, soya production, cattle farming and stuff so this road really is a drop in the ocean. What's more bothersome, imo, is what happens afterwards. It could be left to be swallowed up by the forest or, more likely, it kicks off a load more development along it consuming even more forest. And I'm not sure COP conferences do much good anyway although I'd rather we had them than nothing at all.
