Glad RLB tried something new, it didn't work however so I can see us reverting back next game. I like the idea of Mayenda playing as a false 9 with Isidor but that will unbalance the team, Jobe would need to miss out and thats just never going to happen. Time wasting is general is getting worse and that is down to the officials allowing it to happen, they need to clamp down on it as its becoming a joke. Saying that, it wouldn't be as big an issue if we took our chances.
I still think this is our best formation and lineup currently. Patto Hume O'Nein Mepham Cirkin Neil Roberts Browne Jobe Mundle Isidor
I agree that it wasn't that we struggled with the formation, it was the performance levels that were way off. Nearly to a man we played like we'd been sedated, could barely control it, pass, no movement, every chance wasted. We only woke up when they basically forced us to, no reason we couldn't have been like that from kickoff. The formation wasn't preventing it.
The problem with this is that we defend in a 4-4-2 block which means Browne becomes the "2" and then gets absolutely lost. I think eventually that will be the side but with Le Fee in that role as more of a free role.
Most people were happy with the 11? That means absolutely nothing fwiw I wasn’t. As I really don’t like 442. but we move on
Things like movement etc are instantly harder in the shape and personnel deployed, as soon as Rigg came on our movement increased ten fold
Wasn't the problem for me. That was more to do with Rigg playing well and using the ball better than we had been.
My son is currently on the same train as the QPR team. I told him to go and call Colback a carrot-headed Maggy bastard traitor. Er, that's it, totally off-topic and nothing to do with chatting about last night’s match
Vicious circle the atmosphere thing. It wasn’t epithets players who created the atmosphere, but the antics of the PNE team and management and the ref. You wonder if we start like that every game and make that noise all through if it’d be easier for the players! I remember when the SoL first opened. Atmosphere was incredible even on bad days! You wonder if the “average fan” has changed over time as we’re (well I am) getting on in years (50 later this year) and don’t make the noise I used to!
think the use of aleksic has been poor based on the fee how can we justify that fee where we are now and not be using the player even sporadically?
I said the same, was confident that the three above would all drop point this week. it will happen, it’s the nature of the league and despite who’s frustrated and emotional we get with our lads, these teams above regularly win by a single goal, fine margins and plenty room for drama. it’s not the fact we dropped points last night it’s the fact we were under cooked imo, can accept dropping points after a good performance but definitely edging on the side of disappointment for last night
I don’t think Isidore, on current form, is in our best lineup personally. Saw on twitter, he’s a scorer if great goals, not a great goalscorer! Which is very apt I think. I love the lad, but he needs to learn how to finish the “easy” ones. Mayenda scores that header in the first half
again how did their 29 avoid a second yellow during that entire debacle went down, got up, went down, got up, on and off pitch then back on ridiculous
Sorry mate. Meant Hull, Cardiff and Preston. 3 out of the last 4, I feel he has had poor games by the standard he has set himself. He was absolutely unbelievable against Sheffield Wednesday, you are correct.
4-4-2 may have worked of Mayenda did drop a bit deeper and the usual players retrained the ball. So many players were miles of it and slop. When that happens it gives you the impression it's all wrong. Plus Jobe was just blasting forward and that left massive gaps.
Weird how the naked eye and video highlights look completely different! Naked eye I thought we were poor. Extended highlights we actually played some lovely football! Some great moves in there and should’ve scored more than 1 (so should they mind!)
Yeah but Mayenda was too high. That’s why we couldn’t use the ball. When Rigg came on he occupied deeper and linked up play
I find i often see a different game when the emotion of watching it live is taken away, we were poor last night no doubt but we absolutely had enough chances to have had it won by half time, said that a few times this season but hey ho, wasn’t meant to be last night
