That's the salient point. I can accept the ref and lino missing it, but apparently, it wasn't even checked. If they show a shot of Smallbone level with the ball, then fair enough, but Dean is saying he's seen enough video evidence to suggest he wasn't, and that it couldn't have been checked. Perhaps there was golf on another screen, or they 'forgot' the rules of offside. :emoticon-0138-think

An Adidas kit will be much more a Liverpool kit than what Nike or New Balance ever got close to drumming up!

Tbh I don’t think this one will. The punishment isn’t as drastic where pens are given which is 80% a goal. This is a corner but also the refs are giving a countdown so there’s no need for the keepers t hold longer.

But the issue is - and I’m not saying it’s right - is that book a keeper 10 mins in cos held the ball for 10 seconds and then sending them off 10 mins later for same and suddenly people complaining that the rule is ruining the game.

Also on the other end what deferent is booking keeper in 89th min? All that does it stop the game and slow momentum even more. It’s not necessarily about wasting time either, more just slowing the game down and momentum. Free kicks / holding ball / slowing down taking throws all disrupts momentum when a team is looking to keep it up while searching for a goal.

i think what they’re trying to do is come up with a punishment that won’t necessarily change the game - red cards for keepers, but also more a deterrent because gives a dangerous chance. I can imagine if corners are given the first time a team concedes from one, they certainly won’t be doing it again.

The current rule (six seconds with risk of a yellow, no guaranteed) didn't get implemented and that's a less damaging consequence.

I truly hope it does get introduced and it's applied properly, we all want to see quicker games and, TBF, it's not going to have a massive impact on us since Alisson doesn't do those snide keeper things; he likes to start attacks.

Corners are nowhere near 80% a goal

Even the paella pulis can't claim that.

i’m sure that we didn’t need last night to know how they’ll play. Wembley is a big space - I expect to be cursing Trent and Hopefully praising him in the same game

No we didn't but I think it will be thier team in any event and we will have to take a look at where to pick them apart like trippier who can't run and livaramento v salah.

Wembley is exactly the same size as all standard uefa pitches it's bigger then Newcastle pitch too.

The advantage for us is space that Newcastle can't shut down but their advantage is isak running behind vvd.

It's more about isak v vvd and people letting him run behind than anything imo. That's the danger.

But tonight is the big one for todsy

The Big Top. Roll up, Roll Up. Entry Fees as high as the high wire.
The back three lumbering around like Elephants. The midfield lead by Bruno the Ring Master. Supported by a rotating trio of anybody who can stay fit. Wingers with pace and no footballing brains. Strikers who are usually on strike. To top it all, Zirkzee the circus clown who has no first touch, no balance and no pace. The Big Flop IMG_0378.jpeg

Haha - that's exactly how I feel about him almost every game. Calling him all sorts of names for not blocking a cross, then loving him for a wonderful pass, then swearing at him again for being hopelessly out of position for the umpteenth time.
I don't think any player has ever taken me to such extremes of opinion before.
Ok, maybe Suarez for some utterly sublime football one minute, then being a whiny little girl the next.

I didn’t say they were? You need to re-read my comment.

we were talking about these new rules and trends coming in the disappearing after a few games like holding in the box.

I said penalties are generally about 80% a goal so things like holding at corners have a huge consequence hence why they tend to drop off because it has a huge impact on games.

Where as this will result in a corner so far less likely to result in a goal but does give opposition a chance so it’s just enough of a punishment without completely changing the game.

However as said, because refs give a 5 second count down I don’t see keepers being punished as they’d have to ignore that 5 seconds which is idiot thing to do when wihh th a second to go you can just boot it long.
