They should have 5 x 3mins rounds of boxing instead. Blatter v Platini or Hermoso v Rubiales would get my vote.

    Absolute gem.

Some of the rubbish said about him makes you wonder what some people were watching at times since he broke into the team. The lad has the lot, and a 6 has always been where he was going to shine.

We should just relish every moment we have with players like this. Elite level talent, complete love and passion for the club, and the best poster boy our academy could have.

I'm intrigued to know who decided to convert him to a 6. Dodds maybe? Which attributes caught the eye for that position and was it partly just that we needed a 6 to take over from Evans.

He is a brilliant example of the modern day 6 for me. The days of a 6 being a defensive player first are gone, at the top level anyway. First of all you need a 360 degree view of the pitch in your head, and the ability to play on the half turn. Neil showed both of those in his first few games in league 1. You have to dictate posession and territory with your passing which he does to an extraordinary level. Then you need to hold your own out of possession and in a challenge. I think some fans are guilty of wanting hard tackling ball winners running around the midfield. The game isnt like that anymore. Even tackling isnt really a big part of the game, much more focus is on intercepting to win the ball back.

I keep making this comparison but Neil plays the game like Rodri. Clearly Rodri is at a higher level, but Neil is in that mould. Historically Rodri may have been an 8, but now the best teams put their most composed ball players in at 6 where you can dictate play. I wouldnt play him anywhere else personally.

I just hope the club can give him a contract he deserves. Would anyone begrudge him being our top earner right now?

The Sheff Wed goal was around the 70th minute but he’d got himself into exactly the same position in the 65th minute. He could’ve put the ball in, which would’ve looked like a decent cross, but he didn’t feel it would be finished so checked and passed the ball.

    That's class in my opinion.

Cirkin may be the ‘glamour boy’ but Hume is consistent, constantly improving and comes out of blood curdling tackles with a grin …

… I’ve no idea who scouted him but I hope they’re still at the club.

Most of what was said, over the last two seasons, was nothing more than Neil has recently said himself.

He's admitted he wasn't always playing well. Cutting out the costly mistakes and learning how to be a captain, especially with referees, has made him more confident and a better player. At Sheff Wed he had a few unforced errors but, to be fair, players on both sides were giving the ball away, apparently the pitch is uneven and poor which could explain it.

I noticed there was some new international club competition from FIFA with £100m for the winner.
So that will make the gap to those at the top even bigger. FIFA clowns

Talking of things that don’t warrant a new thread. I see Kieron Brady is once again proving that using lots of long words doesn’t mean you aren’t as thick as pigshit. Droning on about ambition and money, the daft ****. He’s quoting attendance figures as if he’s completely unaware that the three above us have parachute payments. What a ****ing dope. Sure his weaponised stupidity will secure him another total sport appearance fee in the future, though, so there’s that.

Interview with Ratcliff. Not entirely convinced he knows what he's doing.

He seems to be at the stage when his grandkids should be saying,

“Yes that’s nice, now come and have your tea and biscuits, Bargain Hunt is about to start.” <laugh>

The bit where Neville suggests having Maguire and Bruno have a sportsman's dinner to raise the money for the ex players rather than cut the 40k is cringeworthy. Nobody at the club could think of that? Or raffle off some match worn boots/shirts or something.

And they are putting up ticket prices again as well next year.

As nice as that stadium looks, it doesn't look like somewhere you will be getting in for £20 a ticket either!

So if this Old Trafford regeneration ( in other words the govts way of shutting up Andy Burnham becaus of all the spending planned for the south) is govt funded,, are United getting a new stadium at our expense ?

Buying his seasons home and away (92) shirts...

I'm 59, don't get to the games to maybe wear one then, but really like them both, best we've had for years.

Thoughts on wearing them just to hang about in?

Promise I won't wear one to
    a) an airport
    b) shopping in the metrocentre
    c) shopping anywhere
    d) weddings
    e) night out with the Mrs.

Some canny reductions in Kitbag at the minute....£60 for the 2.
