Funny you should say that, I specifically recall Bobby Robson talking in 2002ish about how he preferred to bring in younger players as they were more malleable but also had lower wage demands and it helped us run a tight ship. He was talking about the likes of Bellamy, Jenas, Viana, Milner and was saying he'd prefer to spend more on a youngster as it kept the wage ratio down and didn't saddle the club with potential problems if it didn't work out. Whilst I agree fans never really used to think about it I'm sure those in football have always had it as a concern.
Talking of accounts: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cvgpl0jnpego Chelsea to be looked at by UEFA regarding the sale of their womens team. The BBC article suggests its fine for FFP over here but SURELY this must come under APT (associated party transactions) selling a women's team to your parent company WAY WAY WAY above market value is basically what it was bought in to stop if I'm not mistaken?
Difference being PL would dock points, all UEFA will do is settle for cash. Corrupt leading the corrupt.
