You were the one saving they were in the bag. We will try to earn them in good time. You can't celebrate before thr event and then at the event Itd be like celebrating Christmas 2 weeks early then expecting to have the same buzz on the day
This reminds me of second leg of Liverpool v Barcelona . The only difference is Liverpool failed to score away and had to come back from 0:3. PSG are being saying how good they are and believe they can win by 2:0 or more. We have a slender advantage, I cannot see why we can't make the quarter final.
They are talking themselves into confidence. Anfield has to shake them in their boots. There's plenty of reasons why they can beat us. We.need to play much better but as I suggested we need to kill the space thry can play in while keeping a counter attack threat. If we could score first I don't see Enrique convincing players like.dembele to keep going.
They looked absolutely on it when we played them or perhaps we made them look that way and we can thank Alisson that we weren’t trounced. Regardless, our performance is what needs to improve massively.
They looked very good, yes - but unless they've only just discovered this form their CL league position suggests they're highly inconsistent.
Yes, mentality will be huge and as MITO said above - if we score first then they could well just go into their shell. We were completely off it last week in terms of second balls and the press, but we could see clearly hat they are there to be cut open and I think we will have a lot more success this time round at Anfield, some of our final balls were laughable and very unlike us.
Because they had a terrible start. They got it together, and also spent a heap of cash in January. Once they got past the bayern gsme thst thry lost they had stuttgart, beat an awful city 4-2, and salzburg so thst gave them 9 points in thr last 3 games. They drew 1-1 with psv Their top games were atletico, bayern amd city and they lost 2 of the 3 and caught city at a real bad time. They have a lot of state aid money and have laid it on thick to improve. They got lucky with their last 32 game opponent so if we ignore all their big talk then this boils down to a young team.going away with a big big task. It's up to them to show up
Obviously we arn't through to the quarters yet, and PSG have plenty of reasons to be optimistic still... but I'd count us as favourites here. PSG out chess-moved Slot last time, but it will be a new game and Liverpool will have been studying everything that went wrong last time... plus one goal lead and home-field advantage. We're favourites, but PSG still have a good chance. I have faith in Slot and his tactical team here. He seems to learn from mistakes. Just like Klopp always did better in the second half, Slot seems to have that same knack of adapting and improving.
So, along with Gary Neville, PSG are booking their hotels and getting their passports ready for the QFs. Shades of Bayern in the semis back in 1981, if anyone else remembers that far back. As said, the Prem is the big goal this season, but I'd well sacrifice the LC just to wipe the smile off their smug faces. Villa in the next round, then probably Real in the semis, then Barca in the final means we almost certainly wouldn't win it anyway, but I'd love to get through tomorrow just to ensure we're not taken for granted because of one bad performance.
Yet we still won... They're talking themselves up, nowt wrong with that - it's what I would expect from us as well. I'd rather take home the LC than beat PSG and then go out in the next round, but it's not an either or. Let's just win the lot.
PSG can not take the risk of playing the way they played us on their home ground. If we score the first goal they will be forced to come out and play, leaving gaps at the back.
I'd say we're probably 90% likely to win the league now. 10% chance PGMOL win the league instead and Slot has to wait for his first title. I'd say 70% chance at the League Cup. (Newcastle absentees nudging that a little in our favour on top of, on an average day, we're the better team) 25% chance at the Champions League. So by my made-up on-the-fly maths that's just under 16% chance of a treble this season. I'd have been ecstatic and disbelieving of that at the start of the season. 2¼% chance of no trophy at all.
I cant imagine they could have any bigger holes in the defence than in the first leg. It was our poor play that couldn't take advantage.
