Yer didn't you know, I spend my time reading all your amazing insights and opinions on here and then advise my clients based on it .... Honestly it's worked wonders for years now
Oh good another FACT that you can claim that no one else is able to verify or prove you wrong on. These conversations are always fun. If you genuinely believe that the club looking to immediately bounce back from League 1 and put together an all-star squad identified Allsop as a player to bring in and NO ONE from the Championship below 7th even looked at him, you're dreaming.
Syd, I've said it many times before, I really don't care if you ( or anyone for that matter ) believes me. I pass on what I'm told and what I believe to be true. I know his agent well through my scouting and them being close to a good friend of mine from my playing days. He's got a fantastic deal at Birmingham that he's very happy with for reasons OLM mentioned. If you don't believe the things I say then why do you feel the need to respond to me, apart from the fact you're just an argumentative dick who for some odd reasons seems to need his daily fix.
Weren't we conceding loads of goals when Allsop was in goal or was that someone else at a different time. I vaguely remember the kerfuffle on here about keepers. Something about good at kicking the ball but rubbish with his hands.
Allsop had the third lowest goals conceded in the Championship last season (46), only Meslier at Leeds (40) and Hermansen at Leicester (41) conceded less. He clearly had a weakness for low balls at his near post and everyone remembers those errors, but it's a complete myth that he was a crap keeper.
the points gone missing hasnt it its not about whether allsop was some great keeper or not, he was poor for championship levels in my opinion but its that almost no manager would have dropped him, while his performances may have been poor at times he wasnt commiting howlers that justified him to be dropped more than halfway through the season fact its just pretty cringe in my opinion, everytime pandur has a great game, which is becoming more common which is great the comments about, ohhh if only he was playing from january last year its silly and it doesnt work like that in my opinion, pandurs a better keeper for it, the preseason massively helped him adjust and allowed him to shake the rust off without consequences
Pander is a better goalkeeper and has way more upside. Letting Allsopp go was correct but loaning the guy from Brighton was wrong. Anyway in a roundabout way we got there in the end.
Coincidentally, another one of these graphs is going around this morning comparing Championship goalkeepers. This one makes Pandur look like he's slightly underperforming at shot-stopping, which is surprising and it again suggests that this "goals prevented" stat which they've used maybe isn't that reliable.
Loaning Rushworth from Brighton was a great move, he’s an excellent keeper, he was one of the best in Championship with Swansea the year before. The mistake was signing Racioppi.
I nearly froze to death at Birmingham a few seasons ago. Horrendous conditions. I’m not blaming Matt Allsop for that, to be clear.
Personally I trust Pandur at corners well , yet he doesn’t look that tall , I trust his ability to hold on to a shot equally well , it seems he’s got flypaper on his gloves or massive hands and he’s v solid . I’m sure our better defending is helping but didn’t Allsopp let a few ‘daft’ goals in that might have given us the couple of extra points we needed last year? Mind you all keepers do blobs in a season based on the level expected of them .
Best not to let you near a sandwich board, on Anlaby Road, the next time we play them. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
