that’s shocking. Not sure it’s necessarily his fault tho. The only player who’s played that role effectively this season has been Mayenda. I think it’s clear that it’s not a role for a centre midfielder.
The Rigg role hurts him but for me he’s been lost all season. Doesn’t provide much energy, graft, ball security, creativity or goal threat. Games totally pass him by. If he was a young kid out of the academy, many online fans would have been calling for him to be given a free in the summer. Another nothing performance like today (and the rest) and I’ll be clamming for Harrison Jones to get his minutes.
Interesting about the sports psychologist idea, maybe it is a confidence thing. I personally think he looks over weight for a professional footballer, but I don't think that has been the problem any of the times he has messed up!
I mean he is playing massively out of position. I have no idea why RLB keeps playing solid centre midfield players as a second striker. Ar times today, he was our most advanced player. It's bizarre.
Value your opinion mate but thought Browne was good today, he plays a different role in that position. Rigg averages 22 passes per 90 in that role
Trying really hard not to lay into a few on here, we won, comfortably 4th and still in with a chance of top 2. The way some people snipe and dig out our players makes me sick, get behind them you just might make a difference.
It’s definitely not a role he’s suited to (although Preston fans claimed he did well as an am). However I don’t think him playing deeper does much tbh. He’s a nothing player thus far.
I thought we were canny poor today mind. We were great for 15-20 mins then, seemed to go flat as a fart. Mayenda was the only one to play with any urgency. Thought Neil was really poor the in the middle. Rigg was lost outside and Heldje was terrible at left back. Big win though and keeps the momentum. But we definitely need to start to show a bit more relentless approach.
I agree with you but in a way I’m slightly relaxed as there’s still a long time to go before the playoffs (more or less quarter of a season). If anything it’s too soon to be hitting form. I’m happy with us picking up scruffy wins for the next few weeks. We want to be starting to hit form mid April. With that said, I’d like to see some more rotation for the next few weeks. I think these couple of games (and possibly more) will be doing Isidor the world of good not having the goal scoring burden on him. Perhaps Jobe could be rested, or even Neil, whilst we have Browne fit.
Thought we were good tbh. first half was comfortable, we gift them a goal. Which means they sit in a low block and we got the set piece to break it down, then after that could’ve had 2/3/4 goals
Yeah. I am a bit worried that we will get done over 2 legs TBH. Just what I see, at home, I don't think we do enough to put teams away. I don't want to fancy Coventry over 2 legs put it that's way.
Thought we were class first 20. That's it. Was immediately flat after that. Not sure their keeper made a save did he ? Seemed like patto was the only keeper to make that save into the post
we seem to play better against better teams though. Most of our struggles seem to be against the poorer sides that we need to break down.
Didn't see any of the game, barring our two goals. Still think Browne better off playing where Jobe plays. Shame on you ****ers ****ting on Mayenda and forgetting how good he can be, after he started the season well.
Think this is the interesting challenge. Guess it’s good for us to learn how to break down stubborn teams in a deep block before season end, but it’s unlikely to be useful to us in the playoffs. Probably the most important thing is to make sure our regular XI is well-rested and sharp enough for May. If we do that, nobody will relish facing us - over one leg or two.
