And we get a manager who shares your view and you jump up and down as soon as we run into a bad patch. The price of football being the most exciting game in the world is that its never straight forward. PL football is now about money and you cannot get around it. Sometimes Leicester happens but nearly always we know which of 4 clubs will win the league. Jumping up and down will not alter that. WHAT MIGHT is to buy young players and bring them on but that means we will have to get overrun sometimes when we are on that journey. PS is simply presenting the real world as it is.
In Brighton and Brentford’s case though they went from League One to Prem within about 8-9 years and are now both fully established sides who probably don’t worry about relegation anymore and have the aspiration of Conference or Europa finishes. You could argue that’s more impressive than taking a midtable club to CL. Brighton especially I truly believe have the potential to challenge even further if they continue their progression. Tony Bloom is - for me anyway - pound for pound the best chairman/ owner in the Prem and I’d say he’d be quite high up in European rankings too.
It ain't in my world. Not one bit of it. It'll do, won't do. Not for me. If you're not improving, you're going backwards and cheating yourself and others. Poch had it, Harry and BMJ, too. Ange is a poor coach and we need much, much better. We have to be better, as a club, and given the piss poor management the board have served up for years, it shouldn't be difficult. The sooner this lot are gone, the sooner we can start moving forward again.
Also worth mentioning that, in the lower leagues at least, Brighton and Brentford had better funding than most which did play into their rise Not to the degree that Fulham bought their way up the leagues under Fayed or Channing Tatum's cringy older brother is currently trying to do with Wrexham, but the chances of a Bradford or a Charlton getting into the Premier League through grit and gumption these days are remarkably slim
Almost by definition half the clubs in the league are improving and half going backwards at any point in time. Anyone with any experience of improving anything knows it isn't a linear process. Events derail your plan. What is important is that your plan is then revised based on the facts.
Spurs haven’t improved recently though. Spurs in the last season of WHL compared to now is light and day.
Not really sure our improved finances have seen improved fortunes for us though. Certainly not in the last 5 or so years anyway. We’ve been in a period of stagnation, bordering regression if anything.
The problem is that we are still sixth in terms of spending ability. We need to be 3rd/4th to see the benefit.
It's merely an observation that the top 4 wealthiest clubs win almost all the trophies in every big league. So if we were in that top 4 we would be much better off. I actually thought we were a couple of years back but our revenue has more costs associated with it than Arsenal and Chelsea so we've not quite caught them.
I'm not exactly sure how to express this, let alone explain it, but: We played better football with Royal and Davies at CB, and Lo Celso and Hojbjerg in midfield. It's a baffler.
Because there is an obvious lack of structure and cohesion and game plan under the hapless Australian. It’s just chaotic and reckless.
Assuming an equal number of home games ... Man Utd : 107 * 1000000 / 74000 ~ £1445. Spurs : 102 * 1000000 / 62000 ~ £1594. Kings Rd FC : 71 * 1000000 / 40000 ~ £1775. Them lot : 127 * 1000000 / 60000 ~ £2116.
