TBF there was a time when we were playing hoofball, won 1 in 10, when I thought we'd likely go down. The turning point was the home game against Stockport, a 1-1 draw when we started passing the ball around.
Today shows that even though you are on a fantastic run, but still playing catch, one set of results kills all hope. We lost and the taffs won means the automatics cannot happen.
Yes. Realistically it's all about consolidating a play-off place now. Against Huddersfield next Saturday that's no easy task.
As much as I am not a fan of the taffy clubs, Ivor's mob are a sign of a well run club and what happens on the pitch.
A couple of credible posters on CL saying Leaburn could be out for the season, and Kanu for a month. This leaves Chuks, Ahadme and Hylton as our only striking options unless NJ promotes Casey. Why not, Chuks is finished, he's not going to suddenly improve, Ahadme has never been any good and Hylton is here for his coaching. Our midfield rarely threatens to score, and we've been relying on Gillesphey for goals, so why not give young Casey a chance?
Sounds like bad news for our play-off hopes, assuming we hang on to a top 6 place. Can't believe I'm saying this after one defeat but the prospect of a drop off in form and slipping back to 7th or 8th feels not so very unlikely.
If Leyton Orient lose tonight I believe they will not be able to catch us. That would just leave just two others to see off to secure our playoff place - Reading and Bolton at present
Pratley playing and captain of his team - still doing the business! And we let him go ffs - as Reams would say “ we need to give our heads a wobble “
Orient won. Leyton, Bolton & Reading (unbelievably) are the three we need to keep an eye on. A victory against Huddersfield would put us in a strong position though, 95% sure of 6th at worst I would estimate. Though as many have speculated our squad probably isn't deep enough to fight our way to Wembley and then win there. No Sunderland in the mix this season.
