The CRAAS keep banging on about 5-1 - but who finished higher in the leauge?

    Ah Yes!!!!

And 1-9 is still a record. Pathetic CRAAS only recognise something when is suits THEM.

    Totally deluded, as always.

Newcastle fans wouldn't last season - it was all about the 5-1 after the end of the season - nothing to do with the final league placings - that didn't matter...

and yet we still won the league that year i'd even be happy for you to stuff us 10-0 this season if we won the league.
bit of a hollow bragging rights really

but we both won nothing if you went on and won the league do you honestly think the 5-1 would even be mentioned......no

    as for the 9-1
it's like rugby and the aussies beating new zealand in a friendly before the world cup then losing in the final but still crowing about the friendly win <laugh> quite sad really
must have been a right ****ing downer beating your biggest rivals by a record margin but they still won the main prize

Feel sorry for them, they have to go back 100+ years to find something, good chance 5-1 will be the biggest victory between the the 2 teams in their lifetime.

I remember reading an article in the Sunday Sun several years ago about this game. The editor of a Newcastle paper, I can't remember if it was the Chronicle or the Journal, would not accept that the Mags had been beaten by such a score at home by their nearest rivals he had it printed in the paper as Sunderland 9 Newcastle 1. Incidentally, one thing to note was that Newcastle also missed a penalty that day.
