I think it’ll be ‘end of season’ in the sense of ‘ah, we’re now mathematically relegated’ Ivan gets to duck out early with his payday secured, SR get to release the valve of fan anger somewhat by getting him gone and in comes Rusk to steer it home for the last few games before returning to his new role, with a pay rise
3 more games then But yeah, this is what I think will happen. Dragan was never going to say that we would look to change, if relegated with out a whimper, when he was questioned by Jim White of TalkSport, as there was still the slimmest of a chance of getting out of relegation at the time, and if Jurić managed to pull that off, club and fans would have beeen begging him to stay. But it’s been a disaster, and at least with these rumours it’s sounds like a decision had been made. Pretty sure Jack Rosser is pretty good with his rumours?
I see the timing of the appointment as being far more relevant than the timing of the departure. The article suggests that we're once again going to wait until the official end of the season, when we cease to be a member of the PL.
'compensation fee expected to be lower for a championship club' Sounds like we might try what we did in 2023 which is far from ideal.
Unsurprisingly, cheaper compensation for a championship team being brought up. I know people want our new man in the door immediately when this season finally ends, but we were always likely to choose the option that saves a bit of money, even if it means having to wait longer for attempt two of the rebuild to begin.
As was blatantly obvious, and correct, we are waiting till we are officially a Championship club before going for someone if they are employed. Everyone will know miles earlier, like Martin did, if Rohl is coming in so it’s not like it stops him planning. The players aren’t back for pre season til July anyway so don’t see the big deal about waiting til then for Rohl/anyone in work to officially start, and if it saves us a few million then it’s a no brainer. Spors is here so shouldn’t stop us signing players if we want to, if it is Rohl they worked together previously so even if he isn’t talking to Rohl he will have a good idea of the sort of players he likes.
Yeah, it seems a panic over nothing to me. The only proviso would be a German club swooping in without waiting and nicking him from under our noses.
I'm hoping that Spors has already set the wheels in motion with Rohl and we won't **** around with the compo when we go down.
On the Wednesday forums, most are saying it’s inevitable that he will go this summer, and in all probability to Southampton as it’s clear he was our number 1 target. Also confirming that all of Rohl’s coaching staff are out of contract this summer, so would just be the negotiations and compensation for Rohl.
Yeah I don’t see the desire to have someone in from end of the season. They will just go on holiday anyway then, not like players/managers get much time consecutively away from their jobs so can’t blame them for wanting a few weeks off in the only period they can. Time will tell if it is Rohl but all the signs seem like he will definitely be in consideration. I don’t have a good feeling about him, but sometimes I am wrong
