A fairly ridiculous rumour but one in which I would be very happy if it came true. Tiote a defensive midfield player we definatly need for this season, and i rate him higher than Adam so would regulary get a place in our first 11 for years to come. In essence this would still mean that Tiote is a £35 million player, but i think everyone knows we overpaid for Carroll so its closer to a £15 million transfer (thats how much i believe we could sell Carroll for right now)

All we would need then is a new striker, one which can finish and lead the line well. Someone like Lucas Barrios, Mario Gomez etc

well i'd not give newcastle anyone.... they want to boast fine but i'd keep the "donk" and play him as and when as an option. Its the way it is. rob tiote off newkie just to torment their fans (sorry really, it is funny if you're not on the wrong end of it. we have it with chelsea) for 7mil or something and get going again.

in reality the rumour would merely be that we write off the money owing to newkie by handing him back and taking tiote.. i have no clue how that would work out in thersm of how much we end up losing? would it be 20mil... i haven't a goo.

How good though? Good enough to be the sharpest point of a team soon (in theory) to be contending in the CL? Regardless of whether Carroll improves or not I still don't think his skills match what we need. At the end of the day we don't (and shouldn't) be hoofing/speculatively crossing to carroll. We are playing a great style of football at the moment and I'm not sure if Carroll has the ball control needed to be a part of the team.

I thought this post was going to be about an arguement between Carroll and Cheik.

carroll is a likeable lad, i think the fee we paid was silly and could never be justified by any statistics mr henry could come up with. We'll never see that fee back in sell on fee or image rights or trophies really. Suarez on the other hand = bargain.

if we leave the fee out of it, then this rumour would require...

    1. carroll has made it clear he wants to go.

    2. we have another forward lined up in january

    3. tiote wants to come.

now if we end up on jan 31 with carroll wanting to go, no replacement and us losing 20mil in 12 months i think its fair to say our fans will be quite angry. (with comolli and kenny)

I don't have any strong opinion but have gotten fond of reaching about 60 mins in a game and then annoying those round me shouting bring on the "donk" until kenny does at 80mins.

Andy really is a donk... but i use it affectionately.....

with n'gog i simply hated the sight of his face. we made profit on that one and look at bolton now!

perhaps if we give newcastle back their donk they might end up mid table again?

We have load's of midfielder's we defo don't need another one, anyway Newcastle would be mad to take Carroll back , he's pretty awful at the moment and is not really showing any major sign's of improvement.

    Newbie here, go easy :)

Would rather keep Carroll, he still has a lot of time to come good. I think we're good in midfield atm and would rather sort our finishing off.

I know people keep going on about our finishing and I apologise but it has to be sorted <ok>

Welcome to the forum mate. I agree. The whole Carroll could leave thing is a load of malarky, he is being scapegoated because of his price tag. People make out he has been awful whereas the problems actually lie elsewhere.

    Cheers mate

Yeh agreed, the 35m price tag must add a lot of pressure. Even though I agree hoofing the ball up to him all the time isn't always the way to go about things.

Read someone saying the other day about him cutting his pony tail off, he may then play better. Think he should cut it off regardless, it's awful.

he is pretty bad though.... no matter what lack of service one may say (suarez similalry) there is a vast difference between the effort suarez puts in and what carroll is doing.

price tag is certainly a factor for pressure but without carrgher its not a hoof ball game to him... he's just not cutting it.

he's a likeable lad, i like him but i'm still going to call for kenny to bring on the donk any time he son the bench though.... i am of the age where the crocidile dundee reference makes sense.

I'd like to see him throw himself about a bit and bully defenders now. work a bit harder and get himself in the box.

Well said, In need of another striker in January. Anelka may be a good'n if we can get him cheap enough, if we can score of the chances we're constantly creating then that's one problem out the way

Welcome to the forum, don't agree with Anelka think he is past it but a more reliable striker to support Suarez is needed.

Its hard to judge Anelka really has he is getting very little game time. At the beginning of last season he was fantastic; he is a very clever player too and would probably link up well with Suarez and Bellamy. But in reality its a non-issue he will deffo be leaving the EPL.

    Cheers mate.

Indeed we need a reliable striker to support suarez, just thought that Anelka may be able to do this in the time being. It's a shame Anelka wouldn't come on a 6 month loan.

guys anelka.... he just does not get i nthe box! he doesn't france in the world cup, him up front... never got a chance cos he played 30 yards from goal... chelsea the exact same.

he won't work. thats my firm opinion on him, nothing to do with attitude, age or any non football related matters. We have suarez to go do that role, we need carroll to realise where to be to get goals or someone else bought in who can go do the job.

It's simple guys, just play FIFA it all works itself out, I have behind Carroll Kagawa, Coutinho and Suarez- we mesmerize the other team with our movement!

Seeriously though, Carroll is going no where, he is in KK plans, he will be here so as much as I don't rate him along with many others, we have to back him and try to get him firing again. I also think he might have caught a bit of the looking for fouls bug and letting it get to him. I want to see him against QPR absolutely deck a boy in the air and show he means business.
