Nicked off the Southampton board, re the Man City v Man Unity FA Cup game.......

Man Utd fans face long trip to Manchester for FA Cup tie

Fans of Premier League giants Manchester United are facing the prospect of a long journey up the M6 after they were handed an FA Cup third round tie against Manchester City.

Some supporters of the current Premier League champions have revealed that actually going to a game will prove too difficult, and they will have to make do with watching the game on television like they normally do anyway.

“I was hoping for something a bit more local,” said disappointed fan Richard Young.

“I’ve supported United since they started winning everything, and I haven’t missed a game that’s been televised since.”

“Hopefully if we win through to round four we’ll get a local derby against Swindon.”

    Manchester Derby

Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson expressed his sympathy for fans of the club, who face an arduous journey to their living room to watch the match.

“It’s a shame for the fans,” he said.

“It would be nice for them to experience a real live football match inside an actual stadium, but that’s the luck of the draw.”

“I hope for their sakes that the game is on ITV or some of them might have to face the hardship of leaving their house and going to a pub.”

“It’s definitely something the FA needs to look at.”

I see Bullard is now really endearing himself to Ipswich! He has already fallen out with Jewell about not moving to the area and has apparently been bragging about his wages to his fellow players. This is according to today's Sun newspaper. Will this tit never learn?

    Probably the worst possible draw.

Ipswich other than the Bullard thing are no draw for fans so it'll be a crap gate.

There's no neutral draw so it won't be on telly, so no extra cash there.

They're low in our league and with it being at home there'll be an expectation we can win it (and a desire to stop Bullard being a Cheshire cat after the game). Unlike if it were a L2 side we won't be able to play the reserves and do it. Having to play a strong side exposes us to the risk of injuries and suspensions in what is a very thin squad in places anyway.

The only good thing about it is that Ipswich are away from home and have bigger worries at the moment so they might rest players.

£10 would better for Adults with OAPS £5 and kids a quid. We may get the ground full that way.

£15 to watch a partial reserve game may not go down well.

Whats going on about the fans who bought tickets for the Macclesfield C.Cup shambles ? I thought that the club would allow all ticket buyers from that game into the next cup match Free or at least for a nominal amount. anyone heard anything ?

The club should give a free ticket to every season ticket holder, it's the only chance we've got of a decent crowd.

Plus its justv after the holiday period and sandwiched in between the Derby 2nd Jan and Peterboro 14th Jan home league games. Price drop essential i would have thought.

WELL HULL CITY will have the long term injured players back and with some of our better kids needing rest from first action how about this team then...

Cracknell (if Basso and Oxley are not fit)

    East McShane Bradley Cooper

Garcia Olifinjana Cairney Pusic (or Dudgeon)

    Adebola Barmby(he needs a game)

subs: Pick 7 (but i guess some will be rested especially if on 4 yellows)

I also agree that Ipswich will do the same as there Priorities will be the league games.

Personally, I'd like us to go with:

Oxley or Cracknell regardless of Basso's return. If Basso is back as first choice you could say play Gulacsi, but with Basso's age and the nature of the injury he could go at any time, it'd be just our luck for Gulacsi to get sent off in the Cup and then Basso get injured in the first minute the next week.

East, Bradley, Cooper, Kilbane (if he's back from Derby)

    Devitt, Harper, Emerton, Pusic

    Cullen, Barmby

Subs: Cracknell/Gulacsi (depending on Oxley's availability), 6 of the youth team.

Unfortunately the fact it's a Championship club at home will see us put out a stronger team than that.

    I'd play:

    Gulacsi
    East -- McShane -- Cooper -- Dudgeon

    Emerton -- McKenna -- Cairney -- Pusic

    Cullen -- Fryatt

Subs: Cracknell, Chester, Garcia, Stewart, Fryatt, Olofinjana, Clarkson/Margetts/McElroy (Or whoever the best performing youth player is at present)

More or less the team i picked But it has to be Olifinjana instead of Mckenna. Surely Paul McK. deserves a rest ? lol
Lets have Nicky Barmby in the team.

This won't be an easy game Ipswich will be trying turn round a bad run of form. Also with Bullards fall out with Jewell he'll definitely play JB.

The cup also presents an earning opportunity so the club will be hoping to progress for more pay days.

    I'd like to see a decent team and an opportunity to get fitness into the marginal players and get them use to playing along key players for when we need them;

    ....................Basso............................
    McShane....Chester....Cooper....Dudgeon
    Cairney........Harper......Oli.........Garcia
    ...................Brady.......Fryatt.............

Subs: Oxley, Bradley, East, Adebola, Evans

As long as we don't have a replay, don't think anyone wants to travle all the way down to Ipswich midweek in January. Not a money spinner by any means but it's a game where both teams will fancy their chances to progress, then you can look to getting a money spinner against Man United, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs etc or another game where you can realistically look to progress further in the competition.
