As you say the figure owed is around half of what Trump claims, and he was going to take something like $500B that's not friendship that's extortion and taking the piss, and the only defence Ukraine would receive in return is American workers stripping the assets out of Ukranian land for pure personal greed. Although from what I gather Ukraine isn't as rich in mineral elements as claimed.
