I tend to agree but it is also bad how the legacy media fail to understand what he was saying when he addressed the EU. When he was talking about "the enemy within" the legacy media started banging on about him attacking immigrants when what he was talking about was those that are ruling Europe! The leaders. The immigration problems are a by product of the failed leaderships within Europe along with their obsession with knocking on people's doors for criticising politicians! That just got ignored and the legacy media as usual went straight for the "he's on about immigration, he's racist."
Like him or loathe him, Trump is very effective at what he does and tends to get the desired outcome... Vance just seems like a fool. The meeting started out fairly productive in that it's only purpose was to display the general feeling (which was fairly amicable) to the world's media. Vance then got involved with childish remarks such as "you haven't even said thank you" etc and it spiralled. Incredibly amateur behaviour in a pivotal moment.
Yup. Exactly how I saw it. He looked like a proper **** when Zelenskyy said "how can you say what problems we have when you've never been to Ukraine".
This will mark the beginning of the end for Trump. I am shocked just how poorly Trump has behaved and how idiotic J D Vance is. These are not statesmen but low intelligence charlatans. I totally agree with the comments that the King's invite should be rescinded. But I feel the repercussions of this conference will be huge. Trump has staked his reputation of getting a peace deal in Ukraine but this will now be impossible. The rest of the world will side with the great Zelensky in this debate and you can see the US being ostracised. Vance and Trump appear to think this argument will play well with the US population. I am beginning to think the reaction will be the opposite amongst the public. Just think that the more sensible Republicans will now pounce. In my estimation, this is a catastrophic disaster for Trump. His arguments were reduced to insults and Vance seemed childish and ridiculous. I do not bet but I cannot see Trump making it to the end of 2025. His second term has been a road crash.
I think you type what you would like to be true. Starmer and Macron were like Submissive puppies in their meetings. If that is "went well" we're all f****d. Trump is a bully but there's no point going in there and being all "yes sir, whatever you say sir. thank you for not beating me up." And on the US population I think you make that mistake everybody does these days of not recognising how polarised the world now is because political leaders have ignored their populations for so long that everybody (active) is now pretty much on the extremes! The twitter reaction to this conference is pretty equally split. Yes there is plenty echoing what you say and are disgusted but there I'm afraid an equal amount of "Who does this guy Zelensky thin he is" and "Trump just set the man straight." The world is very polarised but it is because of 30 years of (as Juncker said without any shame) “If it's a Yes, we will say 'on we go', and if it's a No we will say 'we continue’,” 30 years of not listening, not caring and just repackaging the message! What is the point of sanctioning Russia..............but buying record amounts of Russian Gas while you are sanctioning them?
Totally agree. It’s a sorry state of affairs. I’m really angry at JD Vance on this one though. This is his doing. Prick.
Vance looked like an absolute **** of the highest order. The Trump stuff I am not surprised at, that's just an insight to how he governs behind closed doors. I am pretty stunned that's all played out in front of the cameras though. It'll be interesting to see how it plays for both administrations in their countries Trump is the President, but Vance looked like a child trying to chip in to an argument between his parents
Snivelling little turd. “You’re playing with World War 3 here” - yeah, maybe tell that to your VP mate.
I have not seem how this has played to the international media. There seems to be a frenzy in the US. The immediate fall out in the media will be fascinating. I cannot see how Trump can spin this positively. Trump won't get his deal for minerals and looks unlikely to conure a peace deal. J D Vance has humiliated himself and I think it will be difficult to get any credibility after this. I hope that the international community takes note of this. It would be good to see Vance being denied access to diplomatic channels due to.a lack of credibility. The rest of the world's politicians can see Vance as the weakest link. I would undermine Trump by dividing him from thr VP by trashing Vance's credibility.
At one pint Vance gave trump a little stroke on the back, like ‘there there’ nearly time for your meds. Clowns.
The "international media" does not have the ability anymore to favourably spin the techocratic narrative. Most of the active political people are online, even those that are the ones in the "international media" are online dropping soundbites and slogans. This is the problem. The legacy media becomes more and more irrelevant by the day because people watch things directly now and make their own minds up now whereas legacy media is like MOTD where you get 3 minutes of game followed by 10 minutes of talking heads telling you what you saw in their opinion!
Whilst I hated the toadying yesterday I thought Starmer did what he needed to do… now I’m all for telling the US to **** off as actively as possible. We will have to eat the pain and prepare for an enemy to our West as well as our East. Defence spending needs to be far higher than 2.5% and we will have to pay more tax for it. We should all accept it as the burden of keeping our people safe, the number one thing we should all care about. Also it is time to really rally against anyone planning to vote Reform, really make them aware that more of this **** is what they would be voting for.
To rally against people "planning" to vote reform you have to provide an alternative that is not the technocratic Neo Lib set of the past 30 years. We should have learned by now that shaming people to vote for the continuity blob does not work!
I try and avoid politics as I feel politically homeless (because my personal politics are as confused as scooby-doo) but mainly because I think they're all ****s. So can someone please explain to me how it's come about that the American right are loving Putin? I thought Russia was the age old enemy? How the **** are they backing Russia over Ukraine?
