the figures for 2023/24 are now in https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/crewwx4rjvjo as expected with the loss of CL football and an early exit form Europa (relatively) means a loss Headline numbers annual pre-tax loss of £57m up to 31 May 2024 - £48m more than the £9million from 2022/23 overall revenue rose by £20m to £614m in 2023-24. That is without CL football so shows a strong perofmance Media revenue fell by £38 million to £204 million Matchday revenue rose by £22 million to £102 million (first time over 100 and includes a partical opening of anfield road) Commercial revenue rose by £36 million to £308 million (first time over 300mil) LFC report the following: Four new global partners were signed during this period – UPS, Google Pixel, Peloton and Orion Innovation – with Kodansha and Carlsberg extending their existing partnerships. Retail recorded record revenues across its seven global locations, which included a new store opening in Dublin. E-commerce also saw significant growth with more than one million downloads of the official LFC Store app, which represents nearly 20 per cent of e-commerce sales. LFC’s Membership scheme grew to more than 250,000 supporters during last season, which is a club record from the previous season. that 250k people paying to be in a lottery for match tickets) The club also claim to have added all 4 summer signings from last year to the financial period (Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch) the final number that will be used for PSR is so far unknown.
Re PSR: I presume there are some stadium costs in there that won't be PSR relevant. Are women's teams excluded as well? I get the feeling that PSR isn't too much of a thought though unless we have to significantly spend on several players.
Yes. It's a question of where we fall so far. Obviously we know no charges were brought and we should be still over 3 years nowhere near the upper limit of -105. What we are however seeing is bumper commercial revenue and record match day revenues. If we could get by psg then we are on for a massively profitable season this year. All 3 revenue streams should hit record numbers when we are sat here reading them in 12 months time Having a zero spend summer also means a gap will appear between the spend they have reported in 23/24 (it seems all the players went in there) Very likely some spend happens this summer and then another of zero spend the following year.
We didn't zero spend last summer. We brought in a whole new coaching staff which had to be expensive... doesn't excuse no signings... but I said before last summer that I didn't expect us to spend. But I do expect to spend this summer, I expect us to spend quite heavily. We need backup for Bradley now Trent is leaving and can no longer be his backup ... We will need to replace Chiesa and Nunez (both of whom I expect to leave)... Even if Salah and VVD stay, their longterm replacements are needed... it's a question of do we buy a 21 year old to grow into the role or a more expensive ready-made 24/25 year old. All in all though I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the following leave: Chiesa Nunez Endo Trent Robertson Alison Kelleher (One or more of Salah/VVD) Anyone under 21 is at risk If we wern't already likely to be losing so many forwards, I wouldn't be surprised if Slot sold Diaz (not saying I want him to go... just feeling I get) I think a lot of players might be sold and Slot bring in his own players. I think he's earned the trust of FSG and they will sanction him to spend.
You don't amortise managers. We covered every penny of the one player we bought though sales. 2 plus 2 doesn't always add up to 4. Mamardashvili doesn't automatically mean alisson goes but the fact his deal is up in 2027 is significant. He won't go anywhere but home imo. People need to see thst the one guy never mentioned is japrs who would easily match kelleher if given a gsme is also out of contract at the end of the season so lfc will be looking at two foreign keepers and maybe Davies as 3rd if lucky. Let's not wish the whole team away here.
It wasn't just the manager, it was most of the coaching staff too. There was plenty of expense. Not that we couldn't have afforded a new player or two extra, but FSG probably didn't want to invest too heavily in Slot until the could see he was going to work out.
I actually suspect Alisson will leave too; he's with top money atm and there won't be a better time to cash in. We've got two other keepers on the books that, although not as good as the Brazilian, are good enough to be out number one.
No chance. He’s number 1 next year with Marma understudy and cup comps with potential leaving the year after. But no chance he goes this summer.
I highly doubt he wants to be understudy. I highly doubt FSG want two keepers earning first team wages. Becker is gone... If not this summer then as soon as they can sell him
Could be wrong, but I've always thought Kelleher would be the one to leave, as he's no doubt wanting regular first team footie. I don't see us letting them both go at once.
Kellejr is 100% gone. He has a year left and his value is plummeting to the point even the most unreasonable lfc tech scale direct cannot refuse a half decent fee from the mid table clubs.
Well, there is the scenario where we want more money than most are willing to pay and/or Keheller isn't willing to join that ones that will match the asking price
