Dad used to get his mates round for PPV boxing and let me stay up with them to watch it, loved his fights and the camaraderie that came with them. Novak Djokovic - to break through in the sport whilst it was being dominated by Federer and an upcoming Nadal a few years ahead of him then finally blow them both away then continually break records whilst being world number 1 for the equivalent of about 10 years is something else. Only one to ever win all of the big titles, a triple grand slam etc. Kevin Pieterson - played cricket as a teenager and remember watching the 2005 Ashes and he was just twatting the Aussie bowlers all over at every opportunity. Remember playing against teams with lads getting blonde dyed into their hair.
In no order Nadal & federer - both for the same reasons. Artist on the court. What nadal did on clay was incredible. Bolt- an utter machine. Novak is absolutely in the shout for all time. Like you said to come through those 2, and it wasn’t instant, folk forget, is true sporting brilliance. To surpass them is almost unthinkable. An absolute legend.

I don't know about 'heroes' but Muhammad Ali is the best boxer that there's ever been, or ever will be. John McEnroe is the best, most gifted, tennis player that's ever played . . . . who didn't have to rely on a powerful serve. Glenn Hoddle is the most naturally gifted & graceful footballer that there's even been, and he's the only footballer that has ever 'done something to me inside' after a remarkable bit of skill (I can't explain it, but he did). Ronaldinho is the most skillful footballer ever, and was a real pleasure to watch. Finally . . . . Denis Tueart, who was very skillful and my first football 'hero' It's just a pity that he's got no time for S.A.F.C. now (and hasn't had for decades).

It is so difficult to pick these things as most decisions are generally very personal. Steve Redgrave. The medals and longevity of his career speak for themselves. Phil Taylor. His achievements in darts whilst recognised by fans tend to be wholly overlooked by most for a sport still considered a pub game. Usain Bolt. Wow! Breaking world records at a canter. Sugar ray Leonard. Put the G in Goat for me, and that fight with Hagler will live long in the memory. Sergei Bubka. Took pole vaulting to a new level (sorry couldn’t resist that one) Ronaldinho. My real 5th choice and not much that can be said that is not already been said before, he was an absolute magician.
Senna definitely on my list. Loved his attitude, Verstappen tries to be same but without the charisma and just comes across as a whining little bitch
