Did the 1904 podcast say something like Selles has a rule that you have to have had 4 training sessions or be fit for 4 days before you're considered for the match squad?

Or am I making that up?

Something like that, though I suppose there are occasional exceptions to the rule.

I may have missed it somewhere, but what's the latest on Barry?

Baz said yesterday that are awaiting the results of a scan but he's not available for Cardiff. Initial assessment post- match suggested that the injury is likely not as bad as first thought.

Aston Villa loanee Louie Barry is set for a spell on the sidelines with a knee cartilage injury.

The 21-year-old, who has made four appearances since joining in January, was withdrawn in the first half of Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Sunderland.

The forward will return to his parent club Aston Villa to undergo rehabilitation, with the Tigers hopeful that he could feature for Rubén Sellés’ side again this season.

We wish Louie all the best for his recovery.

Meniscus damage isn't great but not as bad as an ACL. I doubt he'd be ready to play again this season. Best we can hope for is that our strong relationship with Villa and working with them whilst he does his recovery gives us first dibs on him for a season-long loan next season, if we stay up that is.

Do we know it's a meniscus? I don't know how many bits of cartilage it can realistically be mind you. If it's a meniscus tear then playing again this season seems optimistic.

I was just assuming. It could be articular. Best case scenario is 4-6 weeks give or take but if it's more serious than that, I doubt he'll play again this season.

Played cricket with a guy who had a bucket handle cartilage tear, had a key hole op and they removed part of it. One week off and back playing. Mind you he wasn't a professional, the cricket wasn't that strenuous and it was 30 years ago.

I don't think there's much chance of Barry being available for us again this season.

Palmer due back. He's a decent player at this level.

Just doesn't suit the coach's style. Didn't suit Walter's either. Really odd signing and I'll be surprised if he's still here after the summer window.

Is he really that different to Crooks? If Crooks suits, I don't see why Palmer can't be used as a similarish but different option?

I don't see many similarities between those two personally.

Yeah, they're quite different. Crooks is a box-to-box midfielder who can also play as an attacking midfielder just behind the striker and make late runs into the box. Crooks does a lot of valuable work off the ball too. Palmer on the other hand belongs to the dying breed of classic number 10s who only make a difference with the ball at their feet. They just fix their position behind the striker/s and wait for someone to give them the ball before they work a bit of magic. They rarely, if ever, track back and work hard off the ball nor do they drop deep during build-up to provide an extra passing option. Palmer can only play as a number 10; he can't play as a number 8. Crooks can do both.

The classic number 10 went out of fashion years ago. Özil was the last high-profile one. Most attacking midfielders these days are just playmaking number 8s. Palmer's a throwback because of this to the point even Robins said something like you never know what you're going to get from Palmer game-to-game.

Is it just bad luck or is there a logical reason why we’re getting bent over with injuries this season?

They are all happening during matches, not in training. It must be bad luck surely.

Could be both. Bad luck in the sense that players are just awkwardly landing and twisting their knees and possibly inadequate conditioning.

Seems unlikely to be a conditioning issue if it's been occurring under 2 separate coaching regimes.
