Mahmoud Abbas thanks you for your service. Now please make a donation to the Palestinian Authority. Your money absolutely definitely positively without a shadow of a doubt will go to feed and educate needy children in the West Bank. It just might need to have a quick rest in a Qatari bank first. For around 30 years.
This isn't an area of history I know a great deal about but iirc there was a huge amount of scepticism in this country against America in the wake of WW2, based on how they more or less left us as the last man standing in Europe and only entered the European theatre when they were guaranteed it would bring an end to the British Empire through government bonds under the Lend-Lease Act of 1941. The two countries aligned very closely under Thatcher-Reagan due to their identical economic philosophies (destroy the working classes), and again under Bush-Blair due to their identical foreign policies (destroy the middle east), but no other alignments post-war jump out tbh. Obama was very, very unpopular here as was Biden tbh and I doubt most Britons have the time of day for Trump.
Anyone watched this? Will give it a go at some point this week. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g0dv7rxxvo.amp
I just find it funny all the anti chinese and russian rhetoric all the time, considering I never even mentioned anything about individual leaders. Blaming the whole of China or Russia for something Xi or Putin does is remarkable, like someone blaming the whole of Israel for Netty's actions.
Ukraine has reached a minerals deal with the US, to the surprise of no-one. This is exactly what the Lease-Loan Act did in 1941. Needs must at the end of the day.
The West isn't perfect, but we enjoy significantly more freedom and liberty than those countries. Most of the internet is censored and controlled in China ffs and urban residents are monitored and given a 'social score' depending on their interactions and obedience. It's so Orwellian it's dystopian. Russia has zero political opposition to speak of, anyone who utters a peep vanishes or mysteriously brushes their teeth with poisonous toothpaste. Our history is peppered with heinous crimes, often against masses of people, but it is also coloured by a heck of a lot of good. I try not to lose sight of that when people are rampaging around London tearing statues down.
It's the way of all things. It would be lovely if we made decisions based on a moral compass and ethical analysis, but that as a form of government hasn't been seriously considered since Ancient Greece and maybe among some of the early humanist philosophers 400 years ago. Ukraine needs US protection, US refuses to give it for free. Ukraine loan bonds aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Ukraine natural resources are worth a great deal. We'll give you money and weapons if you give us lithium and titanium. I said this years ago, Trump is first and foremost a businessman, not a politician. The rest of the world needs to understand this asap.
Thats actually fake they do have a credit system similar to ours which might make it so you can't take out loans and stuff and they had a prototype for some sort of social score in some cities but it's not actually rolled out. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_Credit_System
Most of what you are talking about is political freedoms, what freedoms do we have in the UK, oh yeah to vote the same two **** parties in decade after decade. Even our rights to political protests are less than they use to be. We can't even travel out in our cars without cameras watching us, and sending the likes of BobbyD a fine for getting caught in a box junction, or Chief getting done by a head cam of a cyclist, the local authrorities licence to print money. And we sling protestors in jail for 3 years these days, that's how much freedom we've got, **** all, it's all an illusion. Most of our politicians have their noses in the trough of corruption and when we complain people come up with some bollocks well it could be worse in China...no it couldn't because ive never been on a political protest in my life and could any of us really care if we were not allowed to sit here and talk **** about politics, I certainly wouldn't, id just accept the rules - none of us make any difference anyway. Wake up bro.
It was probably the last chance for peace before Netanyahu came in and destroyed Israeli politics for a generation. Although by that point, the two men negotiating the deal were lame ducks. The article explains why this was the case for Olmert, but Abbas had no real power. In 2008 Hamas was hugely popular - in control of Gaza and ahead in every poll in the West Bank. He was powerless to sign anything.
just reading through some of this we should probably implement it: Banned from trains and planes for: Inclusion on the no-ride list or no-fly list results from specific instances of misconduct on trains or planes.[16]: 113 Misconduct resulting in inclusion on the no-ride or no fly lists can include violation of safety regulations, harassing other passengers or transportation workers, smoking, scalping tickets, or using counterfeit tickets
Admittedly anyone can write anything on wikipedia but it's pretty accurate. You been listening to too much fox news for the pro israeli news
