Did more in his brief cameo than everyone else bar Gelhardt all game. Another pathetic performance by Captain Fantastic, Amrabat couldn’t cross or trap a ball, Jones couldn’t pass wind, Crooks did **** all but give away cheap fouls.
Absolutely crap game from both sides. Cardiff got lucky for their goal, we were both as bad as each other the rest of the time.. It's what you'd expect from 2 sides neck and neck 4th from bottom. It's just that City surprise us now and again and so we expect more. It'll be a battle to the wire and I don't know which side of it we'll finish up on.
Unpopular opinion, we’re incredibly basic these days, and suit playing the bigger sides who leave gaps on the counter, but we don’t do enough against sides we should beat, and we dominated more games under Tim. Not all on Slater at all, but to play him in such a huge game in favour of our most progressive midfielder - get what you deserve Ruben
Our biggest game of the season, we don’t play again for 7 days. If he needed a rest we should’ve managed his minutes better
We look decent going forward until the final pass, which is usually either the wrong choice or dreadful execution.
It was a poor game but we've had some poor games and backed them up with good performances and vice versa. I don't think one informs the other, that's all.
3 points from Sunderland and Cardiff away would have been acceptable before the weekend, so I’ll take that. I think the more worrying aspect is playing so poorly in a big game against a crap team yet again. We have 4/5 more games like that this season and they will decide if we get relegated or not, right now we don’t know how to win them.
Decent points return in aggregate, but I'd have rather lose to Sunderland and win tonight. It's going to be a rocky end to the season.
3 goals in the last 5 games and 1 of those was an o.g. Yep, toothless....but our build up, especially out of defence was dreadful.
At least our goal difference is better than teams below us and three above us. Stoke are getting pulled into it. Money doesn’t help as how many richer owners outside the PL are there than Stoke’s?
Our attackers were absolutely bullied by the Cardiff defence, and as a result we barely created a chance. Had a feeling before the match that this was going to be a bad day, as this is exactly the sort of match we've struggled with all year. A strong, defensively organised team happy to sit deep and catch us on the break. We were way too slow in transition and and kept giving them opportunities to reset. More than a faint whiff of Walterball on that one.
I thought our build up was actually quite good and it was just the passing in the final third that let us down. There was a number of times Kamara, Gelhardt and others were able to break up field but then no one made a run for them.
More often than not Jones has 2 options, Coyle, who 90% of the time just passes it back to him or Hughes/Egan
Does seem we don’t know how to play in a game we are expected to win or have a chance to win . We know how to set up against better teams and execute a plan to upset them . Let’s hope we solve it asap, because hard to imagine a scenario we don’t win any of the massive home games against Plymouth, Luton , Derby and still stay up .
