When Rachubka was playing for the Udders, he took out our striker Ben Burgess and gave him a serious cruciate ligament injury.
When he played for Huddersfield he injured our striker, Ben Burgess in a crucial game at the end of the 2003/2004 season. It later took Burgess a full season to recover. Ie he's a dirty bastard.
Dint know that, O dear! never a good thing shame it wasn't the other way round then Rachubka coulve had his career ended n not ended up at Leeds!
Big Ben got clattered by Rachubka when the latter was playing for Huddersfield. One of the clearest red card incidents you are likely to ever see but being a keeper he got away with it for some reason. From a match report: "Shortly afterwards it was Alssopp’s turn to set up his partner, and a low cross rolled invitingly into Burgess’s path. He took the ball on but the keeper hurtled off his line and cleaned out both ball and man, leaving Big Ben crumpled in a heap on the turf. Our centre-forward is no malingerer, and it soon became obvious this was a game-ending injury. Burgess limped off, in obvious pain, but our manager refused to take the natural option, and throw on Walters or even the neglected Forrester. Instead he sent France into the fray, taking up duties on the right-side of midfield, while Green switched to the left and Elliott trotted off up front." He was out for a year, and never really the same force when he came back.
He did all right at Blackpool, but I was reading a Notts County forum and he's getting slagged off for being permanently injured. It's a shame, he's still only 30 and he can be a handy player on his day. He also sat with the fans at a game in our second Premier League season(Blackburn away I think it was).
When Rachubka played for Huddersfield in our game against them in our promotion season in 2004 he made a bad challenge that broke Ben Burgess' knee and sidelining him for the best part of a year. Add to the fact he's **** and that's another reason not to want him!
He was at our game v Preston at Deepdale in our promotion season. Infact i'm sure he had a couple pies at half time.
When playing for Huddersfield against us he committed an awful challenge on Ben Burgess, putting him out for the rest of the season and pretty much the whole of the next. My memory is **** at remembering when these things happen but think it was our league 1 promotion season. EDIT: Should have read the whole thread before posting. At least it looks like my memories ok - just the common sense that's lacking then!
Even if his work permit was expiring I wouldn't want him, I think we could find better options. If we're getting one of the three OLm mentioned, I'd definitely say De Vries, although long-term I would like Mannone. Isn't Joe Lewis' contract at Peterborough expiring at the end of the season? Could get a cheapish deal for a quality young english stopper.
He's currently in talks about a new deal, but if another decent offer comes in, he'd obviously consider it and there's unlikely to be much in the way of a fee.
I find it ridiculous that Guzan can't work here just because he hasn't played enough times for the USA. We are a country full of immigrants from all over the place who are here for a variety of different reasons, and yet we're sending millionaire footballers who are paying half their income to the country back where they came from, on the grounds that they aren't from an EU country (who gives a ****?).
Does your source suggest that the other three are the only real options or are they just possibilities? Ie are players like Mannone and Lewis already ruled out?
