Liverpool DIDNT know he had that injury because they wouldn’t without scanning it, why would they scan the boy for no reason, that is the whole point of a medical when completing a transfer

    Give over.

The top club in the country has a player with a serious long term back injury and ‘just thought’ he was OK …

… never in a million years.

Yeah because when that issue is noticed they’re crazy to sign off the loan deal as it was always likely it would be a problem that would keep him out the majority if not all the time he’s here

    that’s why medicals fail

Yes? Nobody knew the issue was there do you think Liverpool sent him knowing it was a problem? Do you think they’d have played him if they knew it was a problem? If someone is asymptomatic for a long period of time you aren’t going to assume something is wrong with them are you that’s the danger of being asymptomatic:D

Because at that point we have all the information needed to make the right decision. It's all there. Clear as day, a significant injury that will get worse unless a long lay off is provided.

We decided to push ahead and sign. Why is this so difficult for people to understand. We rolled the dice and ignored the scan.

    I don’t know

if they’ve not agreed something in terms of paying for him only when he’s here I’d say it’s crazy

if they negotiated the loan to where we aren’t losing money, then it’s less a problem. But still left us short player wise

Backing out of this now, will buy you a pint at the playoffs, do you think Liverpool, one of the biggest clubs on the planet would risk him with an injury like that if they had any idea? Have a good day marra

To be honest I hate criticising the club, and more often then not get labelled a ‘happy clapper’ it seems bizarre for people not to see where the club went wrong in signing a player who essentially failed a medical in January

Take the point about being a player short.....there's a lot of "ifs" in the rest of it.

The ifs regarding the structure of the deal of course but I can only talk about the stuff we’ve been told

and that’s he’s unlikely to play from an issue that arose in a medical. That to me says we didn’t do the correct due diligence imo.

    completely appreciate your view

Of course Liverpool had known there was an issue, he’d been out for four months …

… are you really saying it wasn’t, in any way, Liverpool’s responsibility to check before they sent him to play in the Championship?

Lots of guesswork being posted, and reported, as fact …

… ‘best get a dig into Sunderland before the chance is gone’.

So,if our due diligence included a thorough medical...which then threw up the problem...are we saying that cost us any money?

If it’s so clear to you why wasn’t it clear to Liverpool …

… how is it you know better than them?

Completely missing the point. The point is the club are naturally taking a risk by leaving everything to deadline day, and they'll know that themselves. Its a risk they were willing to take and its not worked out. Who I'd sign and how much I'd spent is so irrelevant its untrue.
