IF we go up you think we are in any better shape than the 3 that went up last season? All 3 are coming back down and are getting hammered left right and centre in doing so. Lets be honest our squad last season was no better than Southampton's or Leicester's and that was with Rutter and Summerville here. it's gonna be a hard slog aint it if we do get back to the promised land.
Leicester- speculation early on they were getting a pts deduction. Manager goes to Chelsea, one of their best players follows him. Didn't look too positive from the start. Ipswich- not been in PL for years, back to back promotions so was always going to be a tough ask. Saints- the weakest of the 3 to go up and a manager who seemed determined to play a certain way. Not exactly improved since he's gone, but confidence already gone. Maybe wishful thinking, but hopefully we can go up in style, spend a bit more in the summer to compete. Going to be tough, but feel we're the best chance of ending the 3 up 3 down
Still too early for this discussion for me. The only comment I’ll is that with reduced parachute payments and inevitable player sales next season will be a hard slog in this division. Ipswich have basically bought a very good championship squad.
So much will depend on the owners. If they’re determined to balance the books and only spend a similar amount to what we raise in sales then it’ll be near impossible to stay up. Hard to see us surviving
Need to spend over £100 million. Recruitment has to be 75 percent success rate to go with the £100 million spent. I'm less confident of going up after the Sunderland result. I saw nervousness in the players.
Ipswich had the best team as in played as a team, they never had the best players, Leif made the EFL team of the season for his assists but we all knew his defensive qualities would be ripped to pieces in the PL They spent huge this season buying up quite a bit of Championship talent but this was to the detriment of what got them promoted, team spirit, very naive of them when you consider the best two were probably Rutter and Summerville who get limited game time at their new clubs. IF we don’t crumble, we need some more Tanaka type signings, the lesson we need to learn is contracts, if we go down again we need to be better prepared
Those nerves have also spread into the Sunderland team, we need to spread it over Sheffield tomorrow night
If we go up as champions there’ll be no excuse to not finish above the other two promoted teams. So it’ll just be a case of finishing above one more team to survive. Bournemouth?
Though it helps the others, and the gulf will widen between the top four/six and the others, the recent ruling against PL regulations on Related Party Transactions will help as our owners will be able to use this to their advantage to put money in.
If we get promoted yes we are going to struggle but I think yes we can stay up. the 49ers aren't stupid and we've got something the promoted teams don't have and that's the Red Bull Scouting network. I've always said don't spend big, spend smart. Look what's around you not what's in front of you. Sure you'll have to go to the Mexican or African Leagues or Russian league but there's untapped talent there.
Wouldn’t think many supporters of the. Current bottom three will have claimed to enjoy this season. Here’s hoping we can buck the trend but sadly don’t see it happening as we’re probably looking for ten or more quality players. Fingers crossed though
.....yep I bet the saints have had to shelve the 'when the saints go marching in' rendition this season
