Second half was a throw back to watching us under Houllier; backs to the wall, dig in deep and look to counter. Very frustrating to watch but don't it once in a while when necessary. Doku was very good today, tempted to say he was MOTM but he really needs to improve his end product, he didn't create anything despite destroying our Trent.

That was a very odd game and prob the absolute blue print of this Slot team that we just haven’t got used to yet. We aren’t going to blow teams away like Klopp teams, we’d have race dinto a 3/4 lead under Klopp but we’d also have conceded a couple counters and won 4-2. Slot seems very much play in 3rd gear then 4/5 times a half step it up for 4th and 5th and that’s where need to be clinical. Then drop it down and in that 2nd half it was sit solid and force city to break us down. wasn’t pretty at times but despite doku constantly running at TAA, he offered nothing and didn’t actually get into any great positions and we just kept them at arms lengths. Was bit surprised with 10-15 to go we didn’t get Quansah on to almost double up on doku with taa. Shout to Endo though. Came on, sat there and won the ball around edge of our box 2 or 3 times to relieve the pressure. overall a very professional away performance against a team that won 4-0 at home in their last game.

Doku looks like every game though. He’s all flicks and tricks and he’ll beat the very best defenders at times because he’s skillfull and has burst of acceleration, not much can do if he knocks it 5 yards. It’s not allowing him to do it in dangerous areas and to be fair, TAA just forced him down the line every time. I think stats wise it looks bad but if I’m slot I’m saying to TAA, he’s going to beat you, let him beat you outside and cross with his left foot because he can’t do it - as shown. What don’t want is him coming inside and playing 1-2s past you and he didnt do that once.
