Not trusting a player can be any good for us because they've been playing in a certain country? Perhaps 'xenophobic' is a little strong, but there's been something 'off' about the whole vibe of reactions every time we've been linked to anyone from the Turkish league. If I could be bothered I imagine I could find the same kind of comments when we brought Lincoln in.
You mean like Pedro already did? Acun bringing in players from his Turkish club and those players not being **** are not mutually exclusive concepts.
Exactly right, in real time I had no idea whether it went straight in, headed in by an attacker or by a defender or even punched in by the keeper - think we had three replays and I still wasn't 100% sure - tbh I really didn't give a **** how it went it, just happy that it did
I made the mistake of looking into some of the reactions to Lincoln rumours... Not trying to stir the pot here, but I'm pointing out this theme of negativity towards players we sign from Turkey exists and definitely isn't going to be chalked off as 'the silliest comment ever'. Here's some excerpts... 'Has Acun vanity signing/doing his Turkish mates a favour all over that one. No thanks' 'Another Fenerbahce cast off being linked with us, not for me thanks' 'I'm sure it's just wishful Fenerbahce accounts wanting us to give them money for outcasts' 'It is never a good sign when we buy from the Turkish market' 'Can't see him being any different or more influential than Pelkas, Traore and Omur were' 'Lincoln just feels like an Acun vanity signing' 'The Lincoln signing reeks of desperation and hope over consideration' 'I think he [Selles] was saying Lincoln was forced on him and he's not happy' 'Let's be honest Lincoln was 100% an Acun signing I doubt he figures much unless more freak injuries occur ah well, we have to accept them now...' Them last two were you Brady. Pedro and Lincoln between them will hopefully help dispel this theme. Tufan had plenty of detractors, even quite far into his time with us after he'd more than proved himself.
and again where is the xenepohobia thats what makes it the silliest comment ever you just look silly making that comment or can fans be only sceptical about players from english leagues? fact
I did say perhaps 'xenophobic' is a bit strong - but there's 100% an underlying theme whenever we're linked with a player from the Turkish League. Fans can be sceptical about any signing, but there needs to be a bit more to that scepticism than 'Well, it's clearly just an Acun signing', as if the player's just going to be ipso facto dog **** before they've kicked a ball.
a bit strong? and what happened to having opinons? im not going to pretend i didnt think he seemed a **** and pointless january signing if he's good, then brilliant
I didn't see the match or listen to the commentary but very well done on the result. I think you will manage to stay up
Having difficult with a simple word used in the post you are replying to and which you have just read. A different version and still incorrect. Third time lucky?
I've certainly questioned the Lincoln signing. I think it is clear that Acun sometimes signs players that his manager doesn't want. Pandur is the clearest example of that. I think there is also evidence that he sometimes seems to be attracted to players who are talented on paper, have been on the books of big clubs and probably have great stats on something like FIFA but don't have the mental or physical qualities or robustness needed to compete in this league and who often end up not playing because players who are theoretically less talented but actually much more effective in practice are preferred by the manager. Lincoln coming in without a clear position, at the same time as several other players were brought in to play in the positions he's associated with, and then not being available for weeks gave it a real whiff of dodgy Acun signing. I think it would be mad not to wonder; it's not like we haven't been burned a few times. The fact he did finally play this weekend goes some way to reassuring that he's not going to be another expensive waste who's barely used, although it's not suddenly impossible. I haven't seen any explanation of why Kamara was left out of the squad yesterday. If that was purely selection in favour of Lincoln then that bodes well for the latter but is also pretty damning on Kamara who we invested heavily on.
bore off you unspiring unoriginal **** whens your next rant about how **** hull and the hull city fans are you cretin
In which case, I wonder whether he'd have been on the bench ahead of Lincoln if he were available. We certainly have a lot of options of similar quality in those areas.
Yes, I said it was possibly a bit strong, yet you're still very much caught up on it apparently. Opinions are fine, but once again, if said opinion is purely based on - 'Well, he's played in Turkey, so he must be an Acun signing, so he must be ****' before they've even kicked a ball then it's probably a stupid, or at best a naive opinion that'll likely get challenged. 'If he's good' and it's 'brilliant', do you think people will be less inclined in the future to take that initial negative stance with signings from Turkey? As a heads up, this question was my entire point in the first place.
