Given how much time there is left this season and we are probably in a luxury position to just keep ticking over (barring a disaster), maybe we should be working through the team and giving them all some time off. Take Rigg out and send him on holiday for a couple of weeks winter sunshine and a rest. Get Aleksic in for a couple of games. Bring Rigg back and give Jobe a breather. Get Watson back and give him or Mundle a few games on the right for Roberts. Mayenda for Isidor and even Hjelde for Cirkin. Maybe 2 at a time so we're still competitive and hopefully they all come back ready to peak again for the playoffs.
Yep. Far too many games he’s contributed nothing and it’s affected us. Still in shock he started yesterday but we know the club are development over results.
I'm a gluten for punishment and like to see what ****e he spouts next! The reply is always done as a look at this one rather than expecting him to reply!
I like this idea. Watching Rigg yday I was really worried. His neurophysiology was basically shutting down due to fatigue. This happens when he has been overloaded over a sustained period of time. It shows like if did yday. Reaction time is the first to stand out, coordination the second. He lost his sharpness, even over the first 10m etc then was flaying his legs about, touch went then basically looked like he was unsteady on his feet. Looked physically and worryingly, emotionally spent. So yeah, I like your approach. Some players might be able to play through it. Jobe did but his performances also went significantly during that phase (last year) some just can not.
To the most part, we will always cut him a bit more slack for being a local. And supposedly one of our saleable assets.
That last bit is demonstrably horseshit. If that was the case we wouldn’t be playing loan players ahead of ones that we own.
When is Danns fit? Could be the catalyst to winning every game we have left. Just want RLB to go 2 upfront for every game now.
Just a blip for you guys I think. It would take an almighty collapse for you not to be in the playoffs at least.
I don't think it's particularly a blip, they have played poorly in quite a few recently but tend to get out of jail in the end by managing a draw. That first home defeat of the season has been coming. There is a lack of consistency that means play offs is the best they can do. It's frustrating that they can look very good when playing teams up and around the top end with them but they don't even look like the same bunch of players sometimes when playing teams near the bottom that we should be beating if we wanted to be going for automotic promotion! Other posters on here who know more about it than me and now the manager has mentioned it too so hopefully he rests some. Doesn't help he rarely makes subs!
I see the conspiracy and skulduggery theories are back like clockwork 'The manager is ignoring the club doctors and playing Rigg even though his neurophysiology has clearly shut down, Patterson is only being played because we're trying to cash in on his sale, some are playing poorly because they're trying to attract a big money move and Jobe's 'I must play every game' contract has kicked in again' ... ... do other clubs have all these intricately worked out 'facts' from people using nothing but guesswork. I know everyone loves a conspiracy theory, rather than facts, but ffs ... sometimes players and teams just don't have a good game. None of these things were mentioned at Boro, or even Leeds, until the very end of the game. To be honest I didn't notice Leeds fans coming out with all these plots and machinations.
I am not buying into this burn out or exhaused reasoning I am afraid. Clubs these days measure far too closely player data for it be real at any serious level. The value of a player is far too great to play loose and fast with their physical or mental well being. Like Regis said, there could be some fatigue, but that is some way off burnout or exhaustion. I would imagine most footballers at this stage of the season are carrying a level of fatigue, mental and physical. It is perfectly normal. The idea this should be managed by rotating players to me is wrong. If form dips then so be it, but not fatigue if you are a vital part of the team dynamic. Even if form does dip as a coach you can only put players in who you are confident can do a job to a better level. Easy for us to say this should happen, or that, but none of us see how well these players are performing in training. How are they able to execute the coaches instructions? If they struggle in training to do that they cant play. One of the key things young players need to learn is how their body recovers physically. No two players are the same. I know of more than one young player who would leave training and go straight to the golf course for 18 holes for example. For some that is ok, others not so much. But learning is part of the journey we have to allow for, and learning by experience is far better. I said this summer Jobe would be excellent this season because of his experience last year. Rigg will be the same next year. They arent being burnt out though imo. They are being fasttracked because they are elite level talents who are physically ready for mens football. Plus of course Regis is quite open about the value Rigg brings and why he picks him. Maybe with Browne back he can give Regis something to think about there.
