Random fact. I used to get the 7:56am train from Blackheath to London Bridge with Terry Waite in the late 90’s
Would it surprise me if the death toll turns out to be much higher? No. But please, don't expect me to take the Lancet's report seriously when a third of the research they used to come to a conclusion was the process of monitoring posts on social media announcing deaths. I simply will not give much credence to a study that so openly takes the piss. Similar to the BBC's recently canned documentary about children surviving the conflict in Gaza. Again, would it surprise me if the account given in that documentary proves to be true? No But please, don't expect me to take seriously a documentary whose narrator and main character is the son of Hamas minister who also happens to be a trained actor. It just takes the absolute piss.
Given that this would presumably fall under their remit and they have the personnel and technology to carry out the identification, this is a peculiar thing to say.
yeah right "oh can you send a few medics to this secure hidden tunnel and identify this body that you have no medical history for"
Yet another twisted layer to today's hostage release: Hamas forced hostages Eviatar David and Guy Gilboa-Dalal to watch the release 'ceremony' before dragging them back into the tunnel network that has been their prison for over a year. They then released this in a propaganda video. The stills below shows the pair in tears watching their fellow Israelis up on a stage from a vehicle parked nearby. Israel has refused to hand over any more Palestinian prisoners until these cruel, farcical and psychologically torturous handovers end. Absolutely right.
Not sure how I feel about this... A day out of the tunnels, if I had a choice think I would take that As for the emotions, it could just be happiness for their fellow hostages Also hope knowing the releases are happening, seeing it with your own eyes is believing So while I get what you are saying, there is some moral boosting things going on as a reason to stay strong.
Israel indefinitely delays Palestinian prisoner release as hostages freed So now Netanyahu is breaking the terms of the ceasefire ? That was his retort when Hamas delayed hostage releases on the back of them claiming that the IDF were shooting and shelling civilians trying to get back to the north of Gaza I doubt there will be many calls for Hamas to 'go in and finish the job' in Israel. Double standards all round here, and as much as I don't like seeing the parades that Hamas conduct when releasing the hostages, Israel too have been humiliating Palestinian prisoners before their release. Forcing them to wear jumpers that read 'We will not forget and we will not forgive' please log in to view this image https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveb...phrases-on-shirts-of-inmates-freed-by-israel/ If there's going to be this nonsense from both sides, then people need to try and get beyond it and just concentrate on getting hostages and prisoners home to their families. Instead of trying to break a fragile ceasefire over it.
This **** is happening on both sides please log in to view this image In an apparent tit-for-tat for Hamas’s hostage release theatrics, the Israel Prison Service has put on its own spectacle. It now shares that it has dressed the hundreds of Palestinian prisoners set for release today in shirts featuring its logo, a Star of David and the sentence in Arabic: “We will not forget or forgive.” https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveb...shirts-writing-we-will-not-forget-or-forgive/
I don't actually remember the hostages wearing anything that resembles Hamas or Palestine? I know there was parafenalia around their release but not actually wearing something. The thing I don't like even if it did happen, doing tit for tat will come back everytime and affect those that are the hostages, so both sides need to stop this nonsense. If I was Trump I'd be demanding it stops immediately to Netty, just because of the possible repercussions to it. All the prisoners will do when released is burn the ****ing things then you see your symbols insulted via fire.
I don't think they were being forced to wear any Hamas or Islamic clothing, but I understand why the hostage parades are demeaning. Netanyahu threatening to end the ceasefire on the back of it, after Israel have been conducting their own humiliating parades of prisoners is just hypocritical. But he wants war, he doesn't want a ceasefire.
Israel just needs to stop the nonsense with the clothes wearing, otherwise this will take a turn for the worse for the hostages held by Hamas. I don't know if this was actually Netanyahu's idea, but it needs to stop. I'd understand if it was prison uniform but it's very clearly not.
Yep, it's designed to humiliate Star of David with the words, 'we will not forget or forgive' It's like dressing the Israeli hostages with the Islamic crescent and star symbol and the words 'We will fight the Zionist occupation to the death' Both sides need to stop with this public humiliation of innocent people who have been traumatised, and just get them home to their families.
The humiliation from both sides is because both sides know once these prisoners are released they will go and occupy their stances regarding the other and both be wishing death and destruction on the other, once again. It wont stop because those running the show are liars and neither care about the innocent people, they are just pawns. Hamas is just more obvious about it than the Isrealis but ultimately both sets of leaders are using their public as pawns to dick wave at each other Allah’s judgement awaits
This is a huge shame and I totally condemn it. We're watching playground politics and then everyone wonders why peace remains out of reach.
I'll stop you there though. There is absolutely no equivalence between the hostages in Gaza and the prisoners Israel is releasing in exchange. You cannot ever compare 84 year old left-wing peace campaigner Oded Lifschitz (whose body was returned with the Bibas family) to Iyad Shakhdam, a Hamas terrorist convicted for 18 life sentences including a bus bombing in 2004 that killed 16 and injured 100. Yes, there are many Palestinian prisoners in this release who shouldn't have been arrested in the first place, but hundreds are people with innocent blood on their hands. You forget/ignore this far too easily.
Think we are going to see lots of burning of the Star of David, whoever came up with this ridiculous idea really hasn't thought it through, which suggests to me they are out of control.
