It's natural to discuss the most recent game and focus on the next one coming along. Sometimes, it's worth stopping to enjoy the moment.

Just came across an email I sent to a Brighton-supporting friend two years ago:

"We have been dire, utterly dreadful. If you can imagine a 0-0 draw with a poor Grimsby team on a bitterly cold December afternoon … well, let me assure you it wasn’t as good as that sounds. I wished I’d stayed at home and attempted to fix the cistern – and I’d do pretty much anything to avoid that."

Bring back memories? Anyway, it made me realise how much I appreciate the efforts and quality of the present squad and management, and that appreciation isn't conditional on our winning promotion (although I'll love them even more if we do).

You only have to think back a little way to realise we can enjoy the journey for itself - and lets hope we arrive at the right destination!

OK, Thought For The Day over.

quite agree, it is just as beneficial to travel than arrive. i would love to see us arrive. what a great season so far, in, pre season, carling cup, fa cup so far and the progress graham and the squad are making in the league. long may it continue. floreat salopia

We have spent too long travelling and done very little arriving - perhaps I am being greedy but surely this will be the season when we actually deliver in our quest for promotion. I sense a restlessness amongst our fans who will not be fobbed off forever by excuses. Only by going up to the next level can the club continue to make progress.

let us consider what caused failures to arrive, linesmans flag, play off defeats, shrews bad luck? this season from a distance i see town switched on and already sniffing an auto promo place. let us just keep winning, the top 3 may turn out to be journeymen jesse's just like that team that were walking the league. i cannot see the top 3 in situ long, although chelt v shrews is a must win. floreat salopia

i remember doing pretty much the same 18 months ago following a 3-1 defeat away at torquay (who were 21st in the league), where our goal- that went in off someones shin was our only shot on target, lewis neal spent a long time timewasting even though we were losing, and my missus spent the whole time (of her first town game) more interested by a nearby 4 year old who was trying to make up his own shrewsbury songs, "shrewsbury in the sky" being the standout classic!
wow we have come so far since then, this is the best town side iv seen for so long, if we can keep hold of everyone in january then we will finish in the top 3, im going travelling for 4 months in february and am going to miss the run in, aaaagh gutted!
id take a point at cheltenham, i think that they will struggle the distance as they dont seem to have any injuries yet, whereas i think we could have 4 injuries to key players and still put out a team that could win games.
god bless the wiley fox GT!!

Injuries and players (now playing for Wolves) falling out with ex managers during play-off finals also spring to mind. Who was the lad who got injured whilst warming up at Wemberleee? I also remember the bloke in front of me at Wembley standing up and shouting at Chris Humphreys every time he got near to the ball some rather confidence breaking comments.

yes, its time to deliver this season..enough is enough....we have the players to do it, we have a great crowd behind us and we look a good solid proffetional unit, i dont think this is a good time for me to go into my conspiracy theories but ill be asking a lot of question come the end of the season if we dont go up!!.....

I sit on the back row though?? <laugh> queue tumbleweed...

Seriously I really hope this is our year and that the players bring their skills to the fore and work as a game winning unit.
