If that were Porro half this board would be tearing him a new one though. It’s just not the player’s faults, the system isn’t working for that RB spot. Just as Bentancur is an 8 not a 6. Maddison is a 10 not an 8 (albeit not on at the moment) and Son is an inside forward not a touchline winger.
And as I type Bentancur goes on a run and tests the keeper, like how he done at times for Conte playing as that box to box number 8. Surely I’m not the only one seeing this with some players? There is no way the likes of him, Son, Maddison, Porro are as bad as the criticism they’ve faced this season.
Mixed half to say the least. Should’ve been 1 or 2 down in the first 5 mins. Then showed quality and grabbed a couple goals. Then Ipswich came back into it. All their joy is coming from their left/ our right flank. I’m not gonna dig Spence out for it though, if it were Porro people would be slaughtering him but I’m so convinced it’s a system/ instruction issue and not the player just playing poorly or being out of position all the time - the system essentially forces them out of position.
Strange half Ipswich flew out of the traps and then we got a foot hold and a 2 goal lead then gave away a soft goal for 1-2 and from here it is anyones guess. Kulu has been poor and Tel still getting used to the pace and physicality of the league other than that everyone has done OK without really shining. Son with the 2 assists definitely the liveliest of our forward players whilst Brennan has such a typical Johnson half 2 goals a yellow card and very little else. once again have to focus not give away an early 2nd half equaliser - next goal wins?
65th minute equaliser followed by a 67th minute winner for them. @Dier Hard then rants about Johnson and Ange until his family can take it no more and suffocate him with ingredients for a cream tea. @Citizen Kane rants about Son and Ange until his family snap and garrotte him him using a free Palestine flag
The way Ipswich started was very reminiscent of the way English teams dominated the more skillful European teams in the 70s with pace and physicality. Fortunately Spurs cleverly slowed the game down. I think we have to fear Ipswich again in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Remember a few years back where Ben Godfrey was touted as a CB we should sign? I'm guessing Lockdown really did a number on our ability to judge players...
Bentancur bails out Vicario there, poor pass into Spence who loses it and would’ve been a shot on goal had Bentancur not intercepted. Sort of the only downside to Vicario there - playing it out - albeit again, system issue for me.
